Google Earth is oddly a very satisfying application as it enables the user to aerially look around places with their highly sophisticated map and geographical information program that maps the Earth by the superimposition of images obtained from satellites, elevated photographs and the geographic information system (GIS) 3D globe. The TL;DR version would read – it lets you view locations in ways you have never before.Taking the Indian Premier League season into factor, here are 12 of the Indian Premier League stadiums, viewed from the perspective of Google Earth as a second installment to the series where I compile photos of stadiums using Google Earth:

#1 Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

Sardar Patel Stadium

Home to the Rajasthan Royals, the Sardar Patel Stadium is one of India’s premier cricket stadiums and has a seating capacity of 54,000 spectators.

Fun Fact: Sunil Gavaskar scored his 10,000th run in Tests here against Pakistan in the season of 1986-87. It is also the same ground where Kapil Dev went past Richard Hadlee as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket.

#2 M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Located in the heart of Bengaluru, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is home to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and has a seating capacity of 36,760 spectators.

Fun Fact: Gordon Greenidge and Vivian Richards made their debut at this ground. It was also the same ground where Sunil Gavaskar played the final match of his career.

#3 M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

M. A. Chidambaram Stadium

Established in 1916, the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium aka Chepauk is home to the Chennai Super Kings. The stadium can fit up to 38,000 spectators.

Fun Fact: The Chepauk crowd is known for their appreciative nature, and one of the highlights in the stadium’s history ame when the crowd gave Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar a standing ovation after he had scored 194 to beat India in an ODI in 1997.

#4 Feroz Shah Kotla, New Delhi

Ferozeshah Kotla

Located in New Delhi, the Feroz Shah Kotla was established in 1883 and is the second oldest active international cricket stadium in India. With a capacity of holding up to 75,000 spectators, it is home to the Delhi Daredevils.

Fun Fact: It was this ground where former Indian bowler Anil Kumble took 10 wickets in a single innings during India’s Test match against Pakistan back in 1999.

#5 Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium

Located in Uppal, Hyderabad, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is home to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It has a seating capacity of 55,000 spectators and was established back in 2004.

Fun Fact: Following VVS Laxman’s retirement, the Hyderabad Cricket Association decided to honour the cricket great by naming the North End after him.

#6 Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Eden Gardens

Eden Gardens is one of the most popular sporting venues in all of sports and is acknowledged as an iconic venue in the world of cricket, with many calling it “cricket's answer to the Colosseum". The stadium has a seating capacity of 66,349 spectators and is home to the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Fun Fact: It was at this very ground where Rohit Sharma scored the highest ever individual score (264) in the ODI format.

#7 Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali

Punjab Cricket Association Stadium

The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, which is located in Mohali, is home to Kings XI Punjab and has the capacity to hold up tp 26,950 spectators.

Fun Fact: The semi-final between India and Pakistan in the 2011 ICC World Cup that was hosted in this ground graced the presence of then-Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then-Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani.

#8 Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Wankhede Stadium

Home to the Mumbai Indians, the Wankhede stadium is located in Mumbai and has a capacity of 32,000. Wankhede was the host venue for the final of the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and was also the ground where Sachin Tendulkar ended his career as an international cricketer.

Fun Fact: It was this very stadium where former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri had hit six sixes in a single over in a first-class match.

#9 Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai

Brabourne Stadium

Brabourne Stadium is one of India’s oldest sporting venues and is home to the Cricket Club of India (CCI). The historical ground was not used as an international stadium between 1972 and 2006, but the BCCI made a decision to use it in the Champions Trophy in 2006 and it is now back to being a regular international venue.

Fun Fact: The first first-class match held at this ground was between Lord Tennyson's XI and CCI XI in 1937. The match was drawn.

#10 Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune

MCA Pune International Cricket Centre

Earlier home to the Pune Warriors, the MCA stadium is now home to Kings XI Punjab for the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League. The stadium can currently hold up to 34,000 spectators.

Fun Fact: Indian company Sahara had initially bought the naming rights for the stadium in 2013, renaming it as the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. However, the name was changed back to Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium after the company had failed to make the promised payment of Rs. 200 crore.

#11 Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium

The Raipur International Cricket stadium is home to the Delhi Daredevils and has a seating capacity of 65,000. Built in 2008, the stadium is located at Naya Raipur, Indias fourth planned state, and understandably, the stadium was built as a modern arena.

Fun Fact: The stadium has earned critical acclaim from several cricketers, including former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar and Indian pacer Irfan Pathan.

#12 Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam

Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium

TheACA-VDCA Stadium is home to the Sunrisers Hyderabad and has a seating capacity of holding up to 38,000 spectators. Theground is hailed to haveone of the best batting pitches in the country, but since its establishment in 2003, the stadium has hosted only a handful of international matches.

Fun Fact: The grass used in the construction of the stadium was brought from the Carribean.
