The Gujarat Titans made their IPL debut in the 2022 season after a Jersey-based investment advisory firm, CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pte Ltd), made a surprising winning bid of INR 5625 crore for the Ahmedabad-based franchise and named it Gujarat Titans a couple of days before the IPL 2022 mega auction.

However, the Titans underwent a change in ownership control as the CVC Capital Partners sold 67 percent stakes of the franchise to the Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group for INR 5035 crore, retaining the remaining 33 percent minority control in February 2025. Initially led by Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat Titans scripted history in their maiden season as they captured the IPL title in front of their home fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
