New Zealand v England - ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Final

Sri Lanka v Australia - ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

The Australian cricket team has spent maximum time on top of the rankings since the turn of the Millenium. They were unbeatable from 1999-2007, winning three world cups in a row, becoming the first team to ever do so. It was known as the "Golden Era" of Australian cricket. However, since then, they have been challenged by India, South Africa, and England, with the former two teams going on top of the rankings on many occasions.

England claimed the top spot after winning the world cup as they went to No.1 for the first time since 2013. They have been utterly dominant across all types of pitches. Eoin Morgan's team won 4-1 in Australia and 3-2 in New Zealand. They also sealed their credentials with a 2-1 victory at home against India. Their recent fumbles in World Cup made them lose their spot to India. But they gained back their position soon after their amazing triumph in the recently concluded men's world cup.

The Indian cricket team, who is second on the ICC Test rankings, is currently third in the ODI rankings. They have been in sensational form over the past couple of years and have lost the top spot after going down against New Zealand in the semifinals of the world cup. India also won the 2018 Asia Cup before defeating West Indies 3-1. They won 2-1 in Australia before clinching the ODI series in New Zealand in the first three matches itself.
