Few things are more important than a transfer window in FIFA's career mode, especially since it allows the player to not only revamp their squad but also take it to the next level. This includes the ability to scout and sign players of their choice, though developing a well-rounded and balanced squad can be difficult. This is especially true given that even with a tactical plan in place, finding the right players is not as simple as one might expect.

While defenders are the foundation of any team, finding the ideal right-back is a little more difficult because they must be the ideal combination of a defensive stopper and an attacking threat. However, in FIFA 23, there are several players who fit that description, including a few young stars around whom gamers could potentially build their squads.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (87 OVR – 92 POT)

While he isn't having the best season of his career, Trent Alexander-Arnold is an excellent player to have on any FIFA 23 team. The Liverpool star begins with an overall rating of 87 as a well-rounded defender and arguably one of the most creative players in the game. Not only that, he has the potential to break the 90-point barrier and is one of the best passers in the game, with a 92 crossing stat and an 87 vision.

The only disadvantage is that he could cost well over £100 million, but given his age of 23, the Englishman is someone who will only improve in the right team.

Reece James (84 OVR – 88 POT)

Another excellent English defender, Chelsea's Reece James, is up there with Alexander-Arnold, though the Englishman's injury problems have earned him a lower rating than the Liverpool man. But that doesn't take anything away from James, who has a very impressive 88 crossing stat, 80 vision, 83 stand tackle, and 85 strength, and could potentially come close to the 90 mark.

It makes the 22-year-old an excellent signing option, especially given that he is priced at roughly half of Alexander-Arnold's potential fee, despite having a £110 million release clause.

Achraf Hakimi (84 OVR – 87 POT)

Achraf Hakimi's potential and overall have taken a slight dip since joining Paris Saint-Germain, but that hasn't stopped FIFA fans from snapping up the young Moroccan in career mode. That's because Hakimi has among the best sprint speed (93), stamina (92) and acceleration (91) in the game, and he also has an excellent offensive presence.

He does, however, cost around £60 million, but the fact that Hakimi is only 23 and has a 4 star weak foot and skills makes him worth the hefty fee.

Noussair Mazraoui (82 OVR – 86 POT)

Noussair Mazraoui, a year older than Achraf Hakimi, joined Bayern Munich this summer after a successful spell at Ajax, and his FIFA 23 rating of 84 demonstrates why he's among the best in his position. Mazraoui's standout stats may only be stamina (88), attacking position (84), and agility (86), but his foundation as an offensive threat is already clear.

Not only that, his age and the fact that he could go beyond his 86 potential while only costing around £30 million makes him one of the most affordable options.

Pedro Porro (Overall 81 – Potential 87)

Pedro Porro, who is still only 23, has a long way to go before reaching his full potential, but the Portuguese right-back has a solid foundation that could make him a threat in FIFA 23. Porro is capable of playing further up the field, but he excels as a right wing-back or right-back. This is due to his stamina (90) and sprint speed (84), which allow him to be a threat on both ends.

Not only that, he's an exciting star with plenty of potential as both a defender and an offensive threat, which, combined with his €39 million transfer fee, makes him worth a gamble.

Jurrien Timber (80 OVR – 88 POT)

Not exactly a bonafide right-back compared to everyone else on this list, Jurrien Timber stands out because of the fact that despite being a center-back, the Dutch international can shut down the right-flank if needed. The young 21-year-old is already a rising star in world football and that shows with a potential of 88 handed to him by the FIFA gods.

However, Timber is more the right-back for those gamers that are looking for someone more defensively savvy as the Dutch international won’t offer too much offensively. His crossing (60) and vision (64) are well below the other options on the list. But his tackling (77 slide tackle and 83 stand tackle) combined with his composure (85), jumping (85), interceptions (82) and strength (82) make him a defensive force who will only improve.

Jeremie Agyekum Frimpong (OVR 80 – POT 86)

Only 21 years old, Jeremie Frimpong is already an elite right-back in his own right and the Bayer Leverkusen star shows no sign of stopping. The Dutchman starts off with an overall rating of 80 but has a potential of 86, although that will only grow at the pace the youngster is improving in real life. But what makes him such a standout option in FIFA 23 is the fact that Frimpong starts off with incredible sprint speed (93), acceleration (96), agility (91), balance (90) and stamina (84).

As if that wasn’t enough, the 21-year-old already has above-average tackling (74 slide tackle and 77 stand tackle) and impressive offensive attributes (76 attacking position, 75 vision, 83 crossing). However, even with all that potential and his rather impressive base stats, the 21-year-old’s transfer value is only around £28 million which does make him a steal.

Sergino Dest (76 OVR – 85 POT)

On loan at AC Milan in FIFA 23, Sergino Dest is a bargain option for those managers looking for a young player they can mold and improve as they progress along career mode. At 21, the USMNT (United States Men’s National Team) star does have room for improvement when it comes to the defensive side of his game but offensively, there are few young right-backs better than him.

His acceleration (89) and agility (88) put him up there with the best, which when combined with his vision (72), attacking position (75), crossing (72) and short passing (84) makes him a threat. Plus, he is only valued at around £20 million in FIFA 23 which makes him an option worth looking into.

Tino Livramento (OVR 75 - POT 85)

One of England’s brightest young talents, Valentino Livramento has shone at Southampton over the last few years and has slowly but steadily grown as a player. He spent his youth career at Chelsea before being snapped up by the Saints and Livramento’s growth is showcased in FIFA 23. His potential of 85 has been affected by an ACL injury last season although he will only improve across all fields.

But his standout stats are his sprint speed (83), acceleration (82) and agility (78), which when combined with a high attacking work rate, makes him a good buy. Furthermore, with a transfer value of just £10 million in FIFA 23, Livramento represents a good project for those managers that are really looking to test their mettle by developing young stars.

Malo Gusto (OVR 75 - POT 85)

Only 19, Gusto’s rapid rise is evidenced by the fact that the French wonderkid has already made 40 appearances for Olympique Lyon over the last few years. However, when it comes to FIFA 23, Gusto may walk into the game with an overall of only 75 but his sprint speed (87), acceleration (84), stamina (82), crossing (77) and balance (75) show a player that is ready for first-team action.

Furthermore, much like Livramento, Gusto’s transfer value is set at a very affordable £10 million which means managers won’t have to break the bank for a talented right-back
