Elden Ring is a third-person action role-playing open world game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is directed by legendary “Souls” creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. George R. R. Martin, notably known for his epic novel saga “A Song of Ice and Fire”, helmed worldbuilding for the game.

Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, sometime after the titular Elden Ring is destroyed and its shards, the Great Runes, are scattered. The game tries to have a much compelling narrative, so no spoilers here. Combat and exploration are central to the gameplay. It includes a variety of weapons and magic spells, as well as horseback riding and crafting.

The game borrows elements from Miyazaki's previous works as well as the soulslike sub-genre. Elden Ring, on the other hand, lacks populated towns with NPCs, with the world instead consisting of numerous ruins.
