Everspace 2 debuted on the more bombastic side of space-related Gamescom 2019 announcements. Although its release date has been knocking on our doors, fans of the original were sure to be pleased by the alterations brought about by the sequel. That's because Everspace 2 foregoes the roguelike component of the original in favor of an open universe.
What is Everspace 2 about?
The primary character in Everspace 2 is Adam Roslin, a former clone pilot on a journey to discover the truth about his background and the mysterious extraterrestrial gadget he has. The game occurs in the future when humanity has dispersed to many star systems and established factions competing for power and wealth. Several parties, including the Okkar Empire, a solid extraterrestrial civilization at war with humanity, seek the alien treasure Adam is carrying. He must travel the galaxy to discover the relic and how it may be used.
Everspace 2 Gameplay
Everspace 2 is a fast-paced, action-packed space shooter emphasizing exploration and treasure. The game occurs on giant star systems with frightening beasts. Players assume the role of professional space pilots capable of controlling a highly agile starship equipped with various weapons and gadgets. Players can swap between first and third-person view at any moment. Exploring new solar systems, completing tasks, and battling against hostile vessels are all part of the game. Combat is skill-based, with players attempting to evade opponent strikes while targeting and firing their weapons.
What will the mechanics be like in Everspace 2?
Gamers may upgrade their ships and gain new abilities and armaments. One of the features that distinguish Everspace 2 is its loot system. Gamers can obtain precious resources and unique items from defeated adversaries and secret locations. These things can be used to upgrade the ship or sold for credit. Apart from the main narrative, there are several additional chores and activities to complete in the game, such as searching for materials, mining asteroids, and hacking opposing spacecraft. There is also a mode in which players may collaborate with their friends to complete jobs and challenges.
When will Everspace 2 be released?
Everspace 2 has locked in its release date to April 6, 2023. The announcement also saw developer Rockfish confirming that the game will no longer launch on last-gen consoles, aiming for a summer 2023 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
