Appearance

Every weapon has two forms, one when it is summoned and one when it is ascended. Upon ascending the weapon receives an upgrade in its design. Freedom-Sworn is in the shape of a sword, possibly double edged from appearance. Its hilt is dark and has a golden framework right below it. Primarily blue in colour, this sword has patterns all over the blade.

Non-Ascended

Before ascension, the sword is of a comparatively darker blue colour. The hilt is entirely black and the framework feels a bit less detailed. The markings on the sword is white and the blade goes from a dark blue to light blue to the edge.

Ascended

Upon ascension, the colour change of the blade inverses, going from a light blue to dark blue edge to edge. The hilt gets a little bit of blue mixed in, making it a really dark blue. The sword hilt gets more detailed and feels a lot brighter than before. The markings on the blade become a light blue colour.

Story

People would once raise a toast to a traveler's song that was thusly sung:

"If someone plucks out your tongue, you can still sing with your eyes."

"If someone blinds you in both eyes, you can still see with your ears."

"If someone conspires to destroy tomorrow, then raise them a glass,"

"For even if tomorrow dies, this song shall live on."

They say that a region's character follows that of its archon, and that this holds true both for the people and the land itself.

But was it the unfettered archon who bestowed a love of freedom and wine upon the land and people amidst conflict?

Or was it the people who nurtured the Anemo Archon's love of freedom as they pined for it amid the howling wind and frost?

This is a question that can no longer be answered.

But that song is often sung in dark times.

Whether in the days when Decarabian reigned from his gale-crowned tower,

Or when the corrupt nobility overturned the archon's likeness,

In cloistered cellars, in dark alleys, and in decrepit taverns,

The song seeped through the gale and the iron fist of tyranny, and became an anthem for resisting heroes.

In the distant past, in a silent city ringed in from all sides,

Cheers erupted to the sound of a lyre and at last pierced the prison of raging winds.

A certain group, comprised of a youth, a spirit, an archer, a knight and a wandering flame-haired warrior,

Came and stood before the tower that loomed like a sky-piercing lance,

That cast a shadow like that of a titan,

And they swore to be free, and vowed to shatter the rule of the tower's lone tyrant.

The weak and infirm who could not scale the tower instead sang the song that, till now, had only ever been whispered in corners where the wind did not reach,

And that drinking song rose up with force enough to shake the city walls, spurring the heroes on as they climbed...

"If someone plucks out your tongue, you can still sing with your eyes."

"If someone blinds you in both eyes, you can still see with your ears."

"But if anyone dares to steal your song, the freedom you yearn for,"

"— That alone, that alone shall never do!"

Trivia

  1. The passives of the Freedom-Sworn weapon do not stack with the other weapons of the same series. This means that the ATK and ATK SPD bonus from Song of Broken Pines or the EM and ATK bonus from Elegy for the End will not stack with the bonuses of this weapon.
  2. Despite being a BiS support weapon for Kazuha, this is not his signature weapon. However, this weapon’s lore resonates with Kazuha as he is also a rebel with keen interest in music.
  3. Freedom-Sworn was featured alongside Albedo’s rerun, despite this weapon not being one of his best options. However, it is still usable on him as the passive triggers even when the character is off-field.

FAQs

What does freedom sworn do?

Freedom-Sworn has a pretty long text on its description, but it can be simplified. This weapon increases the damage of the wielder by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for Refinement Ranks 1/2/3/4/5.

Additionally, upon triggering any elemental reactions twice, it increases the Normal, Charged and Plunging Attack DMG and ATK of the entire party.

Is freedom sworn good Genshin?

Freedom-Sworn is an incredible support weapon that can be utilized by many support characters in the game. However, the character that benefits the most from it is Kazuha, who can trigger the passive with ease. If you want to pull for this weapon, it is not recommended unless you have a Kazuha as there are much better options for much less investment. If you got this weapon, make sure you give it to a support unit who can trigger elemental reactions, or it will be underutilized.

Is freedom sworn good for Ayaka?

Long answer short, no. While the passive is incredibly good, Ayaka is primarily a freeze character. This means that Elemental Mastery will not be very good on her as it only affects Shatter damage, which will not be dealt. She has much better options. However, you can pair this weapon with a support unit for Ayaka as the passives can be triggered by other characters.

Final Thoughts

Freedom-Sworn is one of the best support weapons in the game. It’s passives can be triggered off field and not only does it boost your Normal, Charged and Plunge Damage, but also increases your ATK significantly. It is an incredible damage buffer for your team. Paired with four piece VV Kazuha, he can not only increase the overall damage, but also decreases the elemental resistance and additionally transfer the Elemental Mastery obtained from this weapon to your main DPS, making this without a doubt the best weapon for a support Kazuha.
