Hollow Knight Silksong is an action-adventure Metroidvania title by Team Cherry releasing on September 4, 2025. The game is a direct sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight, and will be available on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch 1, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox Game Pass. This Metroidvania title will feature Hornet, one of the major NPCs from the first game as the protagonist, and will take you to the mysterious haunted kingdom.
Plot
Hollow Knight Silksong’s story takes place in the new kingdom of Pharloom, ruled by silk and song, and will shift the focus to the princess-protector of Hallownest, Hornet. Your journey will be that of a dangerous one, as you face off against deadly foes as you try to make your way out of the area.
The original Hollow Knight had several endings, and the release of the game will finally unveil which one is canon, and what happens to the knight, the protagonist of that game.

Gameplay
Silksong is a metroidvania title with a side-scrolling world and several interconnected levels. Team Cherry have promised that the maps of the sequel will be bigger, with things to do, puzzles to solve, and bosses to defeat.
The game features around 40 legendary bosses, and 200 enemies for you to fight and prove yourself worthy against. Hornet will gain access to weapons, which she can use alongside her mobility to take down these foes. You will be able to craft these weapons and armaments, becoming powerful as your journey progresses.
Pharloom will have diverse biomes and maps, showcasing Team Cherry’s artistic prowess and ability to craft beautiful levels.
