Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was created by game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and author George R.R. Martin. The game is set in a world called the Elden Ring, which has been shattered and is being held together by the Elden Ring, a magical artifact.

Players control a custom character and explore the world, completing quests and defeating enemies to progress through the story. The game has received critical acclaim for its challenging gameplay, rich lore, and immersive world.

What is Elden Ring about?

Elden Ring is set in the Lands Between, a fictitious region ruled by several demigods. It was originally controlled by the immortal Queen Marika, who served as the guardian of the Elden Ring, a tremendous force represented by the physical concept of order. When Marika fractured the Elden Ring and vanished, her demigod children began fighting for shards of the Ring in an event known as the Shattering.

Each demigod bears a Great Rune, a piece of the Ring that corrupts them with power. The player is a Tarnished in the game, one of a group of exiles from the Lands Between summoned back after the Shattering. They must travel around the realm to mend the ring and become the Elden Lord.

Does Elden Ring support cross-platform?

Elden Ring is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. However, Elden Ring Cross is not a cross-platform game; while you can enjoy the adventure with other players on another system, the Elden Ring Cross platform will never be fully supported between multiple consoles and PCs. For example, if you play on the PS5, you won't be able to play with Xbox or PC gamers. FromSoftware restricts multiplayer to the platform on which it is played.

Does Elden Ring support cross-gen play?

Gamers may be frustrated that Elden Ring lacks complete Crossplay functionality. Players on the PS5 cannot interact with those on the Xbox or PC. If you've played past FromSoftware games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, you'll recall that they, too, featured a vacant space for this feature. But Elden Ring, on the other hand, does have a cross-generation play on the same console family.

Simply put, PS4 and PS5 users can play the game together. Furthermore, Xbox 1 and Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X users can play together.
