The tenth entry in the main Trails series is The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. It is a turn-based role-playing video game created and released by Nihon Falcom, with NIS America serving as the North American, European, and Oceania publisher. In this climactic installment of The Legend of Heroes series, the fates of three Zemurian figures will be resolved.
What is The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie about?
Trails into Reverie is the tenth game in the Trails series, serving as a conclusion to the Crossbell arc featured in Trails from Zero and Azure, as well as the four Trails of Cold Steel titles. As such, it is not intended for newbies to the series, as the plot relies on the player's knowledge of the previous games.
It is set five months after the Erebonia arc's conclusion and the plot takes three alternative paths after the Great Twilight: "The Day of Reindependence" (featuring Lloyd Bannings, the protagonist of the Crossbell arc), "Lost Symbol" (starring Rean Schwarzer, the subject of the Erebonia arc), and "The Miserable Sinners" (starring C, an enigmatic masked character.)
The Day of Reindependence focuses on Crossbell's freedom from Erebonia's occupation, which was initially referenced in Trails to Azure and was addressed insufficiently in Trails of Cold Steel IV.
Lost Symbol picks up where Trails of Cold Steel IV left off by continuing the story of Rean Schwarzer and the members of Class VII.
The Miserable Sinners follows four main individuals who compose the game's plot. Its chief, "C," who is named after the leader of the Imperial Liberation Front, probes the Imperial Defense Force.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie gameplay

Trails into Reverie is a classic Japanese role-playing video game with turn-based battles, akin to the Trails of Cold Steel tetralogy. The game chronicles the stories of the three characters at the same time, with the player able to freely switch between them after the prologue thanks to the "Cross Story" mechanism. While this may appear non-linear at first, the plot is divided into chapters in which all routes for that chapter must be cleared before the game will proceed, and some routes also have hard locks on progression that require the player to clear other routes beforehand.
Furthermore, the substance of the routes has been condensed in comparison to previous games, which makes the whole experience feel more linear than before.
Players could also use True Reverie Corridor to attract new characters, enter randomly generated dungeons, and evaluate themselves in various mini-games. Using the Unified Front method is one of the most direct changes in the battle system. This in-game mechanism will allow users to employ the entire team's might to take down foes by multiplying each team member's attack strength with over 50 playable characters in the game.
When will The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie be released?
The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie has already been released in Japan, China, and South Korea for the PS4 in August 2020 although thanks to developer NIS America, it will be getting an English release. That has been scheduled to be released on July 7, 2023, for North America and Europe, and just a week later on July 14 for Oceania users. The game will have a special edition that contains a hardcover art book, official soundtrack, novel, Steelbook, acrylic print, and collectible box.
