Grand Theft Auto fans have long been asking for a crossplay feature in GTA 6. Rockstar Games is very strict with its online multiplayer features and does not allow cross-play between different platforms. However, if the studio changes its mind and decides to offer a crossplay feature in the upcoming title, it would also bring a new set of issues.
This article lists five reasons why crossplay in GTA 6 is not a good idea.

5 issues that can emerge if GTA 6 offers crossplay
1) Hacking and cheating

If crossplay becomes a feature in GTA 6, it could potentially increase hacking and cheating within the game. While the issue persists across all platforms, PC is a hotbed for it.
It can hinder the gameplay experience for others, including console gamers. Therefore, until Rockstar finds a solid breakthrough for hacking and cheating, crossplay should be off the table.
2) Modding issues
Rockstar allows players to mod single-player games, and as such, the GTA 6 story mode is also expected to receive mod support. However, some players sneak mods into the online multiplayer version, as seen in the case of GTA 5.
If the same happens in GTA 6, the crossplay option will ruin the game not only for PC players but others as well. Online modding is a serious issue in the current game that should be tackled first.
3) Different aiming settings
Rockstar offers various aim settings in Grand Theft Auto 5, and the same is expected in GTA 6. However, if the developer adds a crossplay option, it will create various issues for the following reasons:
- Players prefer having different aim settings.
- Pro PC players will have more aim advantage with the keyboard and mouse combo.
This could ruin the PvP experience for many in the upcoming game. The issue is already persistent in the current title, and will worsen if players from different platforms are involved.

4) Platform-specific advantages
Rockstar offers different features on various platforms. If the same happens in GTA 6, along with the crossplay option, it will ruin the gameplay balance. For example, PC gamers will be running the title at higher FPS than console users. This could benefit them during combat.
On the other hand, Rockstar prefers adding new gameplay features to consoles first. As a result, others in the lobby will already be using these features before PC players get them.
5) Huge load on the server

After the release of GTA 6, a majority of the gaming community is expected to play the title. This will increase the load on the servers, especially if the game allows crossplay.
This load will further increase when PC players join in. Therefore, without a major revamp of its services, Rockstar should avoid including crossplay in the forthcoming title.
