The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brought its mega and much-awaited pay-per-view event, UFC 300, to its fans across the globe from Las Vegas, United States. The cards were stacked for exciting mixed martial arts bouts across divisions. The current light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, and the former light heavyweight champion headlined the main event of the evening in an exciting five-round light heavyweight title showdown. Alex Pereira since making his debut in 2015, has seen a meteoric rise to his career as a professional mixed martial artist. After losing his first professional fight against Quemuel Ottoni at Jungle Fight 82, Pereira made a spectacular comeback and won four consecutive fights, paving the way for his UFC debut. He faced Bruno Silva in his first match in the promotion on March 12, 2022, at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Ankalaev.
After defeating Bruno Silva, Alex Pereira next faced the former UFC middleweight champion and old rival, Israel Adesanya, at UFC 276 for the middleweight title. He shut his lights off in the fifth round to win the fight and become the new middleweight champion. Pereira lost the title in a rematch to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287 and moved up to the light heavyweight division. He defeated Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 by dispatching him in the second round while fighting for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title and became a double-division champion.
Alex Pereira is scheduled to take on the former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill. He made his debut as a professional mixed martial artist on September 30, 2017, against Alex Davidson and secured a unanimous decision victory to start his professional career. He registered a clinical record of 6 wins and 0 losses when he faced Alexander Poppeck at Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019.
Hill defeated won the fight via a third-round TKO and made his professional debut on January 25, 2020, against Darko Stosic at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Dos Santos. He faced Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 in a vacant UFC light heavyweight title bout and defeated him by a unanimous decision to become the champion.
