Jailton Almeida is a heavyweight professional mixed martial artist who fights in the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Almeida was initially drawn towards football but financial constraints forced him to opt for combat sports as a career. Jailton Almeida started training in boxing at the age of six and later picked up training in jiu-jitsu when he was 11.

After training in jiu-jitsu, he trained in mixed martial arts and made his professional debut in the sport on September 29, 2012, at Nocaute: MMA Fight 2 against Diego Reis in a welterweight showdown. Almeida submitted Reis in the first round to win the fight by a first-round submission and started his career with a dominant win. He switched to middleweight after winning his first four fights on April 1, 2017.

After a successful showing in the middleweight, Jailton Almeida transitioned into the heavyweight division on February 23, 2019. He also competed in the light heavyweight division after his heavyweight debut. He appeared at Dana White’s Contender Series 39 on September 14, 2021, and fought Nasrudin Nasrudinov beating him by a second-round submission to win a UFC contract. Almeida made his promotional debut in the organization on February 5, 2022, against Danilo Marques at UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland. He defeated Marques by a first-round TKO and continued his momentum in the promotion.
