Jamahal Hill had a fascination with combat sports from his early years. Initially immersed in basketball, he transitioned to professional mixed martial arts and pursued a career in it. Hill made his professional debut as a mixed martial artist in 2017 and clocked a record of 5 wins and 0 losses before appearing at Dana White’s Contender Series 21. He defeated Alexander Poppeck via a third-round TKO in the bout. The win earned him a UFC contract and cleared the deck for him to compete at the highest level in the global promotion. Jamahal Hill registered victories over names like Ovince Saint Preux, Johnny Walker, and Thiago Santos while competing in the light heavyweight division in the UFC.

Owing to his unmatched success, Jamahal Hill earned an opportunity for the light heavyweight title against the then-champion, Glover Teixeira, at UFC 283. The duo fought through the five rounds of their bout, and the fight was decided on the judge’s scorecard, which adjudged Hill the winner by a unanimous decision. Jamahal Hill couldn’t defend his title, as a few months later, he suffered an injury, forcing him to vacate his title.
