NFL players and their partners are usually the talk of the town. From breakups to new relationships, countless couples make the news every season. However, a few athletes have been with their significant others since childhood.

While some have known their partners for decades, some have met them during college or high school. Either way, they have been together since before the athlete got famous.

From Patrick Mahomes to Trevor Lawrence, multiple players have married their high school sweethearts. Of course, every couple has a different story to share.

Let's talk a look at five couples who have been dating since before one of them made it big in the NFL.

#5 Trevor Lawrence and Marissa Mowry

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback and his wife, Marrissa, have been dating since 10th grade.

“We met in fifth grade, so I won’t say I knew [she was the one] in fifth grade,” Lawrence told US Weekly. “We started dating seriously in 10th grade.”

Having met in fifth grade, Trevor and Marrissa began dating in 2016, which was their high school sophomore year. Marissa has stuck with Lawrence throughout his journey as a QB, including his wins at Cartersville High School.

The 23-year-old proposed to her at the Clemson University football field in 2020. After being engaged for a year, they wed on April 10, 2021.

#4 Tiffany and Philip Rivers

The former Los Angeles Chargers icon, who played 17 seasons in the NFL, has been with his wife since middle school. They attended the same high school, following which Tiffany followed Rivers to North Carolina State University in 2000. They married soon after in 2001.

The couple have nine children together: Halle, Caroline, Grace, Gunner, Sarah, Peter, Rebecca, Clare, and Anna. Halle, their oldest daughter, was born on July 6, 2002.

#3 Matthew Stafford and Kelly Hall

Married since April 4, 2015, Matthew Stafford and Kelly Hall are easily one of the NFL's most popular couples. While they didn't strictly meet when children, the couple have been together since the time Stafford played with the Bulldogs at the University of Georgia.

The couple has four daughters together: Sawyer, Chandler, Hunter, and Tyler.

Currently promoting her podcast The Morning After with Kelly Stafford, Kelly has also survived a brain tumor, which was surgically removed. She has often credited Stafford for standing by her side and supporting her.

#2 Josh Allen and Brittany Williams

QB Josh Allen and Brittany Williams have known each other since they were eight. Their real relationship, however, began almost a decade later.

“I asked him to come to Sadie’s at my school, which is the big school to him and he was nervous,” Williams revealed on Kelly's podcast. “And my friends were crazy, we were taking a party bus… [Allen] had never been on a party bus and was just so overwhelmed with everything. And the boys at my school were mean to him.”

While the couple has been constantly together at events and otherwise, Allen and Williams are yet to get married.

Two Super Bowls and millions of followers later, Mahomes and Brittany are probably one of the most popular couples the NFL has ever seen.

An athlete herself, Matthews has played professional soccer in Europe before pursuing fitness and entrepreneurship.

She met Mahomes at the Whitehouse High School and had no real idea that he was a star QB. Married on 12 March, 2022, Brittany and Patrick have two children together, Sterling and Bronze.

During a 2020 interview, Brittany revealed how she was unaware of him being good at sports:

“When we started dating, I had no idea he was even good at sports... The quarterback had graduated, and I was talking to [Patrick] like, ‘So, who’s going to be our quarterback?’ And he was like, ‘Well, I think I’m going to try out'. I was like, ‘Wait, you play quarterback?’”
