Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has never been shy about making moves to help his team succeed. Ahead of the NFL's trade deadline of November 1, Jones has made his intentions about what the Cowboys' plans are.
In his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jones commented that the team isn't looking to make any moves at the moment.
“Absolutely nothing that involves a name of a player or a position that I’m seriously looking at this moment. Not one move. But could that change in 30 minutes? Of course, it could. Always looking to get better. But I think the reality of the situation, I would say there’s not one.”
The owner added that even if good players are available, that doesn’t mean the player would fit on the Cowboys roster under their salary cap.
“You first of all look at the player as to how he fits. I’m not even going to say skill level. I’m going to say a combination of skill and how he fits in with what you’re trying to do in your system. If he comes from a similar system or concept of offense or defense, then that’s one thing that might get your attention."
Although Jones may not make any moves, there is one key position Dallas should consider making a trade for.
Should the Cowboys trade for a wide receiver at the trade deadline?
The Cowboys and their offense have struggled to move the football so far this season, ranking 27th in total offense. They average 300.8 yards per game and have the seventh-fewest receiving yards in the NFL, at 1,154.
Jones, who's also the franchise's general manager, needs to look at some available wide receivers.
One place to start could be with the Carolina Panthers receiver DJ Moore, who is highly sought after. With the Panthers already trading wideout Robbie Anderson, Moore could be next.
Another option could be New York Jets wideout Denzel Mims. He hasn't played a down for the Jets this season as he's seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
Although it seems unlikely, Kendrick Bourne of the New England Patriots could be available for the right price. Bourne is in his second season with the Patriots and has just 156 yards and zero touchdowns so far this season.
What makes the deal unlikely is that Jones admitted to dropping an F-bomb on Patriots owner Robert Kraft in a meeting.
Overall, Cowboys star wideout CeeDee Lamb needs a second wideout to pair with after the departure of Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns. Let's see if Jones truly stands apart as the team sits with a 4-2 record so far.
