"Lot of talking for a team that hasn't won anything" - Shannon Sharpe's beef with Ja Morant and co. stemmed after his response to Memphis star

Shannon Sharpe getting into it with Ja Morant's father and Memphis Grizzlies players was not on the menu for the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The former NFL Hall-of-Famer was seen in a verbal spat with Morant's father, Tee Morant, and players like Dillon Brooks and Steven Adams.

Sharpe later explained his side of the story by saying that he had told Dillon Brooks that the Grizzlies player was too small to mark LeBron James. The player responded and then the beef exploded on the court. Steven Adams was the first to go to the sidelines to make his opinions clear before Ja Morant was also seen joining in, followed by his father. More details may emerge as we hear from others, but this in itself was not surprising.

Shannon Sharpe has history with the young Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. He had previously said that he had a problem with all the talk coming from the team considering they had not won anything. He had said:

"Got a problem... The Grizzlies do a lot of talking for a team that hasn't won anything. Not just Ja, all of them. A lot of yapping... The last time the Grizzlies made the Western Conference Finals, Ja was 13... What you mean, you good?"

Shannon Sharpe never fond of Ja Morant's comments

The above comments came after Ja Morant said that he was scared of no one in their own Western Conference but was more worried about the Boston Celtics. They are second behind the Denver Nuggets there and don't have the recent pedigree of the Golden State Warriors or the historic success of the Los Angeles Lakers (who they played today and ultimately lost to when this fight broke out).

But this was not the only time that Morant has gone under Shannon Sharpe's skin. Morant once said that he would "cook" Michael Jordan one-on-one. Sharpe replied:

"Ja Morant a chef? Cuz that's the only cooking he's doing to Michael Jordan... Lord have mercy!.. I ain't got no problem with confidence, but sometimes the confidence (borders) on lunacy."

Not many people would begrudge Sharpe for saying what he did. Michael Jordan is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game, if not the greatest. Shannon Sharpe has long been frustrated with the amount of talk that comes from the Grizzlies, and he got a chance to convey his displeasure face-to-face during the game against the Lakers.
