Nick Foles might have taken a veiled dig at Tom Brady for ignoring his handshake not once but twice

Nick Foles will always remain the quarterback who defeated Tom Brady in a Super Bowl and brought the Philadelphia Eagles their first league championship. Perhaps that is why the GOAT has never thought much of Foles since that defeat in Super Bowl LII while playing for the New England Patriots.

It remains Brady's only Super Bowl loss since turning 35, having won the other four.

Such was his sourness at losing the game that he refused to shake Nick Foles' hand after the game was over. It is customary for opposing quarterbacks to congratulate each other in the middle of the field, win or lose. That Tom Brady eschewed it after the Super Bowl defeat left a poor taste.

He never clarified later either that it was something in the heat of the moment, and he never congratulated his vanquisher in the months that followed.

It all seems to have gone beyond normal between Brady and Foles, as the current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback snubbed him again last season. The current Indianapolis Colts quarterback was playing for the Chicago Bears at the time. It was also a loss that Brady did not take well.

Perhaps all of this stems from the fact that Nick Foles and Eli Manning alone seem to have the GOAT's number. However, Brady gave a general answer, saying that he did not think about it one way or another, but it seems coincidental that he missed the same quarterback twice.

But if that was playing on Foles' mind, he took the high road and never got petulant about it. He did, however, sneak a slight dig in when he got the chance. It was classy and concealed in equal measure.

A look back at Nick Foles' reaction to Tom Brady's retirement

Tom Brady retired last offseason before reversing his decision to return for this season with the Buccaneers. When he made the announcement of retiring, naturally, there were a lot of players congratulating the GOAT. Nick Foles was amongst the crowd.

Foles wished Brady all the best for the future but slid in a photo of them shaking hands before the Super Bowl that ended in a defeat for the former New England Patriots quarterback.

The post was respectful towards Tom Brady but reminded NFL fans that Nick Foles had defeated him. It also showed that Brady was willing to shake hands but chose not to do so ever since he was defeated after that game. It was the perfect subtle sendoff from a quarterback who seems to know how to handle the GOAT.
