Super Bowl LVI took place at the SoFi Stadium in California on February 14, 2022. With the Los Angeles Rams emerging victorious over the Cincinnati Bengals, it was the second consecutive season that the home team won on their own turf.

And, apparently, fans were gearing up to watch as it turned out to be one of the most-watched Super Bowls of all-time. About 112 million viewers tuned in, which includes both traditional cable and fans who streamed the big game.

Super Bowl LVI's halftime performance featuring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Mary J. Blige was also a must-see for many viewers.

While over one hundred million viewers on one broadcast seem like a tremendous amount, but in the current age of digital content, social media influencers and YouTubers can bring in even more subscribers and viewers than that.

Mr. Beast, one of YouTube's most well-known and well-liked personalities, reached 130 million subscribers on his channel in January 2023. According to HypeAuditor.com, Mr. Beast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is currently averaging about 41 million views in a 30-day span.

With that type of viewership, the channel brings in tens of millions of dollars in advertising and brand campaigns.

A psychologist by the name of Tim Kasser who studies materialism, conducted research that proved that if a company or brand had Mr. Beast advertise for them, it would cost half as much as a traditional commercial and would reach an even bigger audience.

Food for thought as the Super Bowl quickly approaches and companies will pay over $5 million for a one-minute commercial.


NFL playoffs reach viewership numbers close to that of Super Bowl LVI

The NFL playoffs featured some of the newest faces in the league. With a change of guard, some of the veteran players like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers didn't make their long postseason runs and it was the younger players who made a name for themselves.

That apparently was a big plus for NFL fans as the viewership numbers were released this week. Both the NFC and AFC Championship games averaged over 50 million viewers.

That number is up two per cent, the most since the 2014 season. Both conference championship games were the most-watched television broadcasts since Super Bowl LVI last year.

The entire NFL playoffs garnered 218 million viewers and reached close to 70% of households in the United States. Showing the viewership and fan base that football has.
