Slaking is a Generation III normal-type Pokemon, It evolves from Vigoroth starting at level 36 and is the final form of Slakoth. Slakoth is its first form which evolves in Vigoroth at level 18. Slaking resembles sloths and some forms of ape, as well as a Megatherium (giant ground sloth) or a gorilla. Slaking is somewhat humanoid and is only slightly larger than most people at 2.0 m (6'07") and 130.5 kg (287.7 lbs). Slaking has some of the highest stats of a non Legendary Pokemon, though it has become infamous due to its ability: Truant. Pokedex EntrySlaking spends all day lying down and lolling about. It eats grass growing within its reach. If it eats all the grass it can reach, this Pokémon reluctantly moves to another spot. Wherever Slaking lives, rings of over a yard in diameter appear in grassy fields. They are made by the Pokémon as it eats all the grass within reach while lying prone on the ground. Hordes of Slaking gather around trees when fruits come into season. They wait around patiently for ripened fruits to fall out of the trees.

Appearance

Slaking is a large, bulky, ape-like Pokemon with brown shaggy fur with its face, chest, and hands being a lighter tan color. Slaking has thick and jutting, along with a large, pink, pig-like nose, upward pointing fangs that stick out of its mouth, and a semi-circle patterning underneath its eyes. It has a white collar of fur around its neck that extends over the top of its head before ending in a small tuft. Slaking has large, five-fingered hands and two-toed feet. Slaking is slightly larger than most people at 2.0 m (6'07") and 130.5 kg (287.7 lbs), a stature which is a part of its ape-like/humanoid design.

Behavior

During most of the day, Slaking sleeps and stays stationary. Many consider Slaking the laziest Pokémon, but it's lounging behavior is actually saving energy. It can release built-up energy all at once in an exertion of power and can regain this lost energy by using its former signature move, Slack Off. Slaking resides in tropical forests, where it eats grass and fallen ripened fruit. Due to its stationary nature, Slaking only moves around when there is no longer any food within reach for Slaking to eat.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Slaking has high attack and HP stats, with a somewhat low special defense stat. As a normal-type Pokemon, Slaking is weak to fighting-type attacks and immune to ghost-type attacks, with most Pokemon types damaging Slaking normally. Despite these appealing stats and typing, Slaking’s ability Truant, makes it immobile every other turn and thus hopeless against users of Protect and Substitute. This ability is a massive weakness for Slaking in battle.

Best moveset

Slaking’s ability Truant is one of Slakings main weaknesses, since it makes it immobile every other turn and thus hopeless against users of Protect and Substitute. To make up for this, the only real option is utilizing an all-out attack moveset in hopes of knocking out the opponent before Truant kicks in.

Conclusion

While many players get frustrated by Slaking’s detrimental ability, its high stats can make it useful with the right conditions. With its few weaknesses as a normal-type, Slaking can survive the damage done to it when it's immobile.
