Appearance of Slowpoke

Slowpoke is characterized by its pink color. It is mostly pink and resembles a mix between a salamander and a hippopotamus. It is a four-legged creature that has a singular white claw on the end of each leg. Its long tail also has a white tip. This tail drips a sweet substance that attracts different kinds of fish. Naturally, Slowpoke uses his tail as a fishing lure. This causes him to lose his tail a lot.

Behavior of Slowpoke

Slowpoke is slow and not very bright. It takes a long time to respond to things. Sometimes, after losing his tail, it can take up to a full day before it realizes it. Slowpoke is very forgetful and often loses track of time and what it is doing. Slowpoke is also very slow-moving, as evidenced by its name. As mentioned in the Pokedex, Slowpoke is probably best characterized by the word oblivious.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Slowpoke, being a Water and Psychic-type Pokemon, is strong against Steel, Ice, Fire, Water, Fighting, and Psychic-type Pokemon. Slowpoke is also strong attacking against Poison and Ghost types. If an opponent has any of these types, Slowpoke is a great Pokemon to use. Slowpoke receives half the damage from these types. Slowpoke is weak to Grass, Electric, Bug, Ghost, and Dark types. These Pokemon will deal double damage to Slowpoke.

Alolan Slowpoke

Alolan Slowpoke

The Alolan Slowpoke can be found in Galar in Pokemon: Sword and Shield. This Slowpoke is characterized by the yellow found on its head and tail, which is different from the mostly pink version that is the standard Slowpoke. The Alolan Slowpoke is often referred to as the Galarian Slowpoke, because of the region found in the game.

In Sword and Shield, Galarian Slowpoke can only evolve into Galarian Slowbro using an item called the Galarica Cuff. This item is essentially an evolution stone so you'll need to use it on your Galarian Slowpoke to trigger its evolution to Slowbro. First, you'll need to find Galarica Twigs in order to get the Galarica Cuff to evolve Slowbro.

Mega Slowbro

Mega Slowbro

The Mega Slowbro is a rare evolution of Slowpoke. Slowbro can Mega Evolve into Mega Slowbro using the Slowbronite‎. If held by a Slowbro, the Slowbronite allows it to Mega Evolve into Mega Slowbro when it completes a Spectacular Talent during a Pokémon Contest Spectacular, a contest in which Pokémon are judged on their condition and movesets in two rounds, to determine which one is the best of its category. while its Trainer has a Key Stone. Slowbro will remain a Mega Slowbro until the Talent Round finishes. Evolving a Mega Slowbro is fairly uncommon.

Trivia

  1. In the Pokémon Red and Blue beta, Slowpoke was initially named "Slowmo". The name was ultimately changed to Slowbro, which it has been ever since.
  2. Despite most Pokédex entries highlighting its lack of response to a bite on its tail, in Pokémon Snap it reacts quickly to a bite from Shellder. This could be due to Shellder's venom stimulating a quicker response and hurting Slowpoke more, or just an error or intentional inclusion to reduce downtime in the game.
  3. In keeping with its name and defining characteristics, in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! Slowpoke is the sole Pokemon who does not attempt to run to keep up with the player in the overworld. Players can easily outrun Slowpoke.
  4. Though the Pokemon has made numerous appearances, no Slowpoke has ever been seen attacking in the anime. Slowpoke is a relative pacifist on screen.

FAQs

Q. Who is stronger, Slowking or Slowbro?

When you break down the numbers, Slowbro and Slowking are pretty much the same Pokémon. The only big difference is what Ice-type attack they end up using. For Slowbro, who uses an ice beam, that lands 90 damage and costs 55 energy. For Slowking, his blizzard move will do 140 damage for 75 energy. That is the only major difference.

Q. Which Pokemon can defeat Slowking?

The 3 strongest Pokémon you can use to defeat Slowking are Thundurus (Therian), Yveltal and Gengar.

Q. Is Slowbro good in LeafGreen: True Pokemon?

Slowbro is exceptionally good in the game. After all, psychic is the most powerful type in this game and Slowbro can do things no other psychic types in this game can: it has 75 base attack and access to Shadow Ball.

Q. Is Galarian Slowking a Legendary?

Yes. The Galarian Slowking is one of the new legendary Pokemon that trainers can get in the most recent DLC for Pokemon: Sword and Shield.

Conclusion

Slowpoke isn’t the strongest Pokemon. It is the slowest. It doesn’t have great strengths, but when evolved, both Slowbro and Slowking are solid Pokemon to have.
