How sportstars across the world celebrated Halloween

Halloween is a holiday annually celebrated on October 31. Some people hold Halloween parties on or around this date, where the hosts and guests often dress up as skeletons, ghosts or other scary figures.The celebration is commonly depicted by carved pumpkins, bats and spiders, to give the parties a spooky appearance. Evolving from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain, modern Halloween has become less about literal ghosts and more about costumes and candy.Almost all of the world celebrated the Halloween day this Saturday, and the sports stars all over were no exception. A host of athletes posted their pictures on various social media platforms, letting the world know how they go about their Halloween parties, and at the same time wished their fans on the ocassion.Here are few of the famous Sportspersons who enjoyed their Halloween to the fullest.

#1 Michael Phelps

The most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, posted a picture of him getting treated by a couple of doctors, one of them dressed as a clown and other a snowman. Quite unsurprisingly, the " Baltimore Bullet" was not sure if this was a ‘Trick or Treat’. Here is the picture Phelps posted on his official Instagram page.

The American swimmer has won a total of 22 Olympic medals, with eighteen of them Gold medals.

#2 Dwayne Johnson \'The Rock\'

Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as ‘The Rock’ was at his brilliant best during Halloween. The wrestler chose to imitate ‘Popeye’ during the celebrations, a character known for his strength and love for Spinach. Though, we are not sure how much The Rock loves spinach, but surely he looks the part in Popeye’s costume.

‘The Rock’ is famous for his roles in movies like Snitch, Hercules and most of all the Fast and Furious series. However, the world knew about him after his stint in wrestling, from where he got his ring name.

#3 LeBron James

LeBron James was in his own element during the Halloween celebrations, dressed up as legendary musical artist Prince, he won everyone’s hearts. The Cavaliers’ small forward even sang ‘Purple Rain’ with a guitar in his hand.

Here’s “King James’” imitation of the famous music artist. The 30-year old won the NBA Most Valuable Player award four times between 2009 and 2013. He put them all up on his Instagram account.

#4 Kevin Durant, Steve Novak and Dirk Nowitzki

Kevin Durant, The Oklahoma City Thunder player dressed as Martin Lawrence’s character in the film Blue Streak for the Halloween celebrations. Here’s the Instagram post,

Steve Novak, Durant’s teammate dressed up as the Big Foot for the Halloween party, and carried the costume quite well.

Dirk Nowitzki, the German who plays for Dallas Mavericks was the best of the lot. He dressed up as Lurch from The Addams Family and looked really similar to the real one, probably because of his towering height.

#5 Andre Agassi and John McEnroe

Andre Agassi, a former world no.1 tennis player, tweeted a picture of him with his wife, Steffi Graf. The former was dressed up as Donald Trump whereas Graf imitated Cyndi Lauper, and they pulled off their respective costumes quite brilliantly. Here’s the tweet,

On the other hand, John McEnroe, another former World No.1 celebrated the Halloween in full swing. The American was accompanied by the German tennis player, Tommy Haas, who posted a picture of the duo on his Instagram page.

#6 Novak Djokovic and Eugenie Bouchard

World’s best tennis player, Novak Djokovic enjoyed his Halloween party to the fullest. The Serbian posted a picture of himself on his twitter account saying, “I’m always game when it comes to fun!” He also wished his fans all over the world a Happy Halloween.

Boris Becker, a former World No.1 himself and Novak’s head coach was also with the player as the German posted a photo of the two together in a party on Instagram.

Eugenie Bouchard was another tennis star who spent her Halloween partying. She tweeted a picture of her with two friends dressed as Donkey Kong, Bowser and Yoshi from the famous Super Mario game. Here’s her tweet,

#7 David Villa

Villa halloween

David Villa has settled into his new surroundings quite easily. The Spaniard celebrated the Halloween with his family and posted a couple of pictures from the party. The first one shows his children, Olaya, Luca and Zaida dressed up as different comic characters.

#8 Andrea Pirlo

As the saying goes, “No Pirlo, No Party”. The Italian playmaker also tweeted a picture of himself preparing for the Halloween party.

Pirlo followed into David Villa’s footsteps when he joined New York City FC in the summer from Juventus. The photo which ex-Milan player posted on Twitter can be seen here,

#9 Barcelona players

The Brazilian forward has one simple formula in his life, Play hard, Party harder. Just after Barcelona beat Getafe in an away fixture, Neymar was out to celebrate Halloween. All of his Barcelona teammates joined him in the celebration as he posted a number of pictures on his Instagram account.

Neymar posted a picture of both him and Suarez, the other goal-scorer of the night, both dressed as Batman.
