AJ Styles is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE in January 2025. He is best known for his work in WWE, TNA, and NJPW, and has won world titles in each of these promotions. He started wrestling young and even wrestled a few matches in WCW. After the company’s closure in 2001, he made a name for himself on the independent circuit and eventually signed with Ring of Honor and TNA the next year.
He had a very successful 12-year run with TNA, winning numerous titles. In 2016, Styles finally joined WWE and has been a member of the roster ever since. While Styles is a highly decorated wrestler in WWE including being a Grand Slam Champion, he is yet to win a Royal Rumble match, as of January 2025.

Royal Rumble 2022 - 17th Place
AJ Styles entered the 2022 Royal Rumble match at number one opposite his old rival Shinsuke Nakamura. After six years, Styles eliminated another superstar in the event, and this time he eliminated six wrestlers - Shinsuke Nakamura, Austin Theory, Robert Roode, Ridge Holland, Sami Zayn, and Omos. However, after spending almost half an hour in the ring, Styles was surprisingly eliminated by Madcap Moss.
Royal Rumble 2021 - 8th Place
The Phenomenal One was the entry number 25 in the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match. While he was surviving well, the final entrant managed to eliminate him. Braun Strowman entered at number 30 and charged at everyone inside the ring with full force. Unfortunately, Styles was one of the wrestlers thrown out of the ring by The Monster Among Men.
Royal Rumble 2020 -14th Place
Up until the entry of AJ Styles, the ring was dominated by only one wrestler in the 2020 Royal Rumble match. While Brock Lesnar had eliminated 13 superstars, Drew McIntyre had also kicked three stars out of the ring and was the only one standing when AJ Styles entered at number 18. Styles managed to convert this one-sided domination into a normal Royal Rumble match. However, after about eight minutes of survival, he was eliminated by Edge, who had just made his return to WWE.
Royal Rumble 2016 - 20th Place
In Royal Rumble 2016, the crowd went berserk after AJ Styles’ theme hit the titantron. The hottest free agent in wrestling had finally made his debut in the WWE and it was a moment to remember for fans. Styles spent 29 minutes inside the Rumble and eliminated Tyler Breeze and Curtis Axel. However, he was then eliminated by Kevin Owens.
