Royal Rumble 2001 - 3rd Place

In 2001, The Rock entered the Royal Rumble match at number 13 and went on to be a part of the final three wrestlers. He eliminated The Godfather, Big Show, and cousin Rikishi and survived for about 39 minutes in the match. However, Kane was wreaking havoc in the ring that time and eventually eliminated The Rock. As of January 2025, this remains the last time the People’s Champ entered the 30-man battle royal.

Royal Rumble 2000 - Winner

The Rock entered the 2000 Royal Rumble match as a clear favorite. Entering at number 24, he eliminated Big Boss Man, Crash Holly, Al Snow, and The Big Show to finally win the Royal Rumble match for the first time in his career. However, this victory wasn’t without controversies. During the final tussle against The Big Show, a few camera angles suggested that The Rock had landed his feet on the floor before the giant. However, the referees ruled that he had survived and The Brahma Bull won that Royal Rumble.

Royal Rumble 1998 - Runner-Up

While The Rock had spent just a little over a year in WWE, he was still a favorite going into the 1998 Royal Rumble match. Entering the match at number four, he would spend 51 minutes and 32 seconds inside the Rumble. During this time, The Great One eliminated Kurrgan, Ken Shamrock, and Faarooq. He and his arch-nemesis Steve Austin made it to the final two before the Texas Rattlesnake gave him a stunner and threw him out of the ring.

Royal Rumble 1997 - 8th Place

The Rock made his WWE debut at Survivor Series 1996 and was a rookie entering the 1997 Royal Rumble match. By that time, he was still known as Rocky Maivia. Entering at number 25, he spent an impressive 13 minutes for a rookie before being thrown out of the ring by his future tag team partner Mankind. In his first attempt at the free-for-all, Maivia failed to eliminate any other superstar.
