Sami Zayn (real name: Rami Sebei) is a Canadian pro wrestler performing on the Raw brand of WWE as of February 2025. He started his wrestling career in 2002 at a Canadian-based independent wrestling circuit under the name Stevie McFly. Zayn then changed his in-ring name to El Generico, a luchador gimmick from Mexico, and wrestled with a mask. In 2013, he signed with the WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, changed his name to Sami Zayn and made his WWE television debut without a mask. Zayn is a former ROH World Television Champion and has won the WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown Tag Team Title one time each. He made his main roster debut after Bret “The Hitman” Hart picked him as the opponent during John Cena’s weekly U.S. Open Challenge for his United States Championship in 2015.

What language Does Sami Zayn speak?

Sami Zayn is multi-lingual and can speak languages such as English, French, and Arabic. According to givemesport.com, Zayn spoke in Arabic at the Night of Champions in 2023, which translated to "Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Pray to the prophet. We're in an Arab country. We have an Arab champion. We're gonna do this in Arabic. Introducing the Prizefighter. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn."

While talking about his heritage in an interview with 411Mania in 2015, Zayn said, “I was born in Canada but both my parents are Syrian – they moved to Canada back in the 70s and I was born in a 100% Arab house. I’m very much an Arab although I need to practice my Arabic more! I use it [Arabic] less and less with my parents these days, since I live away from them here in Orlando, near the Performance Center and I don’t practice it that much anymore. However, I do feel a 100% connected to the Arab audience.”

As per Arab News, Sami Zayn feels a deep cultural connection with Saudi Arabia and appreciates its natural qualities and sense of belonging. In an exclusive interview with the website, Zayn said, “You know, with your culture, your language, your people, the food, the smells, the sounds, I don’t know, there’s something about it. It just feels like home, even though it’s not home, you know?”
