Career

On February 28, 2010, he launched his first YouTube channel, GermanLetsPlay. After receiving two strikes for copyright infringements, he launched the GermanLetsFail channel on November 13, 2010, which would have been his primary channel in the event of a third strike.

“Singularity Gameplay | Let's Play #01 - Deutsch - E99 und die Singularität” or “Singularity Gameplay | Let's Play #01 - Deutsch - E99 and the Singularity” is the oldest video on Manuel’s channel. The video has over 168k views as of September 2022. The video is a walkthrough video in which Manuel plays the game Singularity.

In September, he created the channel GermanLetsTrash, which he utilized from then on to publish videos with questionable copyright. However, due to a third strike on December 31, 2010, GermanLetsPlay was barred because he claims to have overlooked a copyright-infringing video on his prior channel.

Despite the fact that the channel was made operational again in March 2012 after consulting with YouTube support, he opted to continue publishing his Let's Plays under GermanLetsFail owing to the large number of followers and the administrative work. He was able to rename his account to GermanLetsPlay and republish his films under the original name after the renaming option was added in May 2013.

He deactivated the channels GermanLetsButton and GermanLetsButton2, which he also owned and where mostly vlogs were uploaded, in 2015 after years of inactivity. The former had just crossed 100,000 subscribers, while the latter had nearly 70,000 when it was terminated. On both channels, there were 37 videos.

GermanLetsPlay launched a new channel called GLP Shorts on July 8, 2021. He uploads small films of hilarious situations and highlights there, even though he has been gone since January 2022.

During his active time on his channel, he produced Let's Plays of several games such as GTA V and Bloons Tower Defense 6. He also frequently recorded with members of the Freedom Squad, which included Paluten, Zombey, and Maudado.

He began using a so-called VTuber avatar, a 3D figure that reflected his facial emotions and mouth movements, in his videos in the beginning of June 2021. He spent roughly 15,000 euros on this avatar. His goal was to add more passion and personality to his films without having to show himself. During his absence from January 2022, he also sold the technological means for the avatar.

There was a several-month gap on his primary channel beginning in January 2022, which was explained in a subsequent video. GermanLetsPlay states in a thorough statement video that he has experienced numerous health problems in the bowel and liver over the last ten years and has gotten several diagnoses, including ulcerative colitis and deadly primary sclerosing cholangitis, which was later amended.

With these incidents, he stated that he wished to "take a break indefinitely" and "take care of his body". He might, however, envision releasing videos "selectively" again and disrupting his break for a brief time. He attributed this to major improvements in games such as Raft and Minecraft.

This happened for the first time on June 22, 2022, for the final Raft upgrade. After it ended, about a month later, he reiterated that he did not yet know himself - or did not want to commit himself - to returning totally or merely appearing "punctually" However, the podcast that had begun during his absence would continue.

Manuel's debut comic, GermanLetsPlay: In the whirl of the worlds, was released on September 6, 2021. He published it with the Community Editions publisher, which focuses on web video producers. Haiko Hörnig authored the plot based on his ideas, which were later illustrated by David Fülecki. He's working on a second comic for 2023.

On April 19, 2022, Manuel released the school calendar 2022/2023, a kind of assignment book in the style of the previously published comic.

GermanLetsPlay has been co-hosting a weekly podcast called Kottbruder with Paluten since May 15, 2022. The name of the podcast is derived from the duo’s joking moniker, which references the fact that they "cooked" together in school.
