This game between the Cavaliers and the Knicks marked the home coming of Lebron James after winning two NBA titles with the Miami Heat. However, it was Carmelo Anthony who stole the show, scoring 25 points with 6 assists and nailing the game winning jumpshot which ended the game 95-90 in favour of the Knicks. This game was a hard fought contest as it had nine lead changes and the score was tied 7 times. This game also marked the first victory for Derek Fisher as the Knicks headcoach

Analysis

The New York Knicks were able to win the game due to better overall statistics. They converted 53.7% shots from the field, shot 50% from the 3 point zone (6-12), +8 assists advantage as a unit over the Cavaliers with 30 assits and force the Cavaliers to commit 19 turnovers. Where as, for the Cavaliers, James had a rough night as he shot (5-15) from the field and commited 8 turnovers in the game.

James scored 17 points in the game which was second game in his entire carrer where he had scored less than 20 points in a regular season game. However, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love did their bid with Irving scoring 22 points and giving 7 assists and Kevin Love added 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. As a unit the Cavaliers converted 45.7% of their shots from the field and shot a dismal 37.5% from the 3 point zone. Also, the other major factor of this game came from the Knicks bench as they had out scored the Cavaliers bench 41-12.

The Cavaliers will go on a road trip to Chicago on Friday where as the Knicks will be hosting the Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday.
