Kevin Love: A Brief Biography

Kevin Wesley Love is an American professional basketball player and plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association.Kevin Love is a five-time All-Star and won an NBA Championship with the Cavs in 2016. Love had a successful high school career with the Lake Oswego Lakers. He led the Lakers to the 2005 Oregon state high school basketball championship game. Love went on to play for the Southern California All-Stars, where the team compiled an unprecedented 46–0 record as he garnered three MVP awards. , Love was named the 2007 Men's Basketball Gatorade National Player of the Year. Love finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer in Oregon boys' basketball history with a record 2,628 points. At the end of the 2007–08 regular season, Love was named consensus first-team All-American, Pac-10 Player of the Year, All-Pac-10, and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year.


On April 17, 2008, Love announced his intention to leave UCLA to enter the 2008 NBA Draft. Kevin Love was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies and was later traded to Minnesota Timberwolves. Love went on to play in the 2008 NBA Summer League and led all players in rebounding. Kevin Love was selected to play in NBA All-Star Weekend Rookie Challenge in 2009-2010. He finished the season ranked as the NBA's best rebounder per 48 minutes. In January 2012, Love scored 30 points in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. Love was a member of the United States men's national basketball team that won the gold medal in the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2012 Olympic team that won the Gold medal.


In 2014, Kevin Love was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he became one of the most important players in Cavs roster. In the aftermath of LeBron James' departure to Lakers in July 2018, the Cavaliers aggressively pushed to secure Love for the long term and Kevin Love signed a four-year $120 million extension with the Cavaliers.
