The race for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award is on. Through the first three weeks of action, we've seen players put up surprising performances.

There's a lot to be desired for this year's race for the sixth man award. Similar to last season's race, it's competitive and unpredictable, making it harder to rank players based on their performances.

Without much ado, here's the first edition of this season's Sixth Man of the Year power rankings by Sportskeeda.


No. 5: Kevin Love

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the biggest surprises of the new NBA season. With their offseason acquisition of Donovan Mitchell, they've cruised their way to the top of the East standings. Last season, Kevin Love was a finalist for the award. With their success, this could be the year Love wins it.

He's been a great veteran presence for the team and still contributes at a high level.

No. 4: Collin Sexton

Everyone can agree that the Utah Jazz is the biggest surprise around the league. The collective efforts of the players have helped their rookie coach, Will Hardy, guide the team to the first spot in the West.

Collin Sexton has also helped the team greatly by staying aggressive and being their sparkplug off the bench. He's embraced his new role and is their new sixth man after Jordan Clarkson was included in their starting five.

Jordan Poole was one of the favorites to win the Sixth Man of the Year award at the start of the season. However, the Golden State Warriors haven't won a ton of games so far. Their fourth win came against the Sacramento Kings on Election Day Eve, and it was a close one.

It could take a while until the rest of the team get back to their winning ways. Until then, Poole will have to share the scoring load with Steph Curry.

The Boston Celtics are trying their best to win the championship this season and that's why they traded for Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon has played extremely well as a floor general for the Celtics. The former Rookie of the Year has also been a reliable shooter from the floor, knocking down 46% of his shots.

Brogdon is a key piece in the team's quest for another title banner.

Christian Wood has been strong for the Dallas Mavericks so far. His ability to stretch the defense and create his own shots has helped Luka Doncic win games. Wood has also been one of the Mavs' best rebounders, averaging eight a game.

Although his defense isn't elite, he makes up for it with his scoring. The former forward of the Houston Rockets is playing better as the No. 1 candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year.
