Danny Green explains why Luka Doncic is hard to guard: "You guard him tight, he is gonna use your body against you"

Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA right now. Doncic has been almost impossible to stop for opposing teams this season. Injured Memphis Grizzlies guard Danny Green explained why the Dallas Mavericks superstar is difficult to guard.

On a recent episode of ESPN's "NBA Today," the crew discussed why Doncic is the hardest player to defend in the league today. Green, who was a guest analyst, pointed out Doncic's size as his main quality for a guard. He also praised his craftiness on offense.

"He's just a crafty big guard," Green said. "He's too big for small guards, and for bigger guys he's too fast. He knows how to use his body well, he knows how to get to a spot, and he has his great touch around the rim. He shoots the three well, step backs from deep range, and he's going to the free throw line.

"If you guard him tight, he's going to use his body against you. He does all the little things that he needs to do to make the game easier for himself. And if he's struggling from three, he's going to find ways to still score the basketball. And find his teammates to get them involved to make sure they win the game."

Luka Doncic is having an amazing start to the season, making him one of the early candidates to win the MVP award. Doncic scored 30 or more points in the Mavericks' first nine games, the second-longest streak in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain's 23 set in the 1962-63 season.

Doncic is currently averaging 34.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.1 steals. He's currently leading the league in scoring, while shooting 49.7% from the field. However, he's struggling from beyond the arc and shooting just 29.1%.

Luka Doncic rests in Dallas Mavericks' loss to the Houston Rockets

After torching the LA Clippers for 35 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals on Tuesday, Luka Doncic finally got rested. The Dallas Mavericks sat out Doncic on Wednesday against the Houston Rockets.

Without their best player, the Mavericks lost to the Rockets team 101-92. It was Dallas' sixth defeat of the season and just Houston's third win.

Tim Hardaway and Christian Wood each had 28 points off the bench for the Mavericks. Seven Rockets players scored in double digits, led by Kevin Porter Jr., who had 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

But Doncic was not worried about the loss to Houston. He talked about former teammate, Boban Marjanovic, who was traded to the Rockets in the offseason for Christian Wood.

"I miss him so much here," Doncic said. "He's a great guy, we were at dinner yesterday. We miss him here. I miss him so much. Hopefully soon we are together again."
