Sharpshooter Desmond Bane has been playing his heart out for the Memphis Grizzlies this season. However, due to a recent injury suffered against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bane will likely miss a few games.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Bane is expected to miss two to three weeks due to a Grade 2 sprain on his right big toe. The Grizzlies (9-5) will be shorthanded on Wednesday night, when they play the New Orleans Pelicans (7-6). This will be the second consecutive game he'll miss.

Bane also didn't play in their previous game against the Washington Wizards, a 102-92 loss on Sunday. The 6-foot-5 guard is a valued member of the Grizzlies and his on-court production will obviously be missed.

Aside from Desmond Bane, Danny Green and rookie Kenneth Lofton Jr. are both listed as out for Memphis. Jaren Jackson Jr. is listed as questionable. For the Pelicans, Zion Williamson is listed as questionable due to an illness. Kira Lewis Jr. is listed as out.

Desmond Bane is having a career year for the Grizzlies

The third-year guard out of TCU has jumped off the scene this season. He's known to be a deadly shooter from a long distance, but he's showing that he can be more than a threat from beyond the arc.

Coming into this season, nobody expected Desmond Bane to have a career year. Last season, he finished in the top five rankings for the Most Improved Player award. He didn't win the award, and that may have motivated him to outperform a ton of his peers.

Last season, Bane averaged 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He did all this while shooting 46.1%, including 43.6% from 3-point range. This season, he's cranked up his production, averaging 24.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 4.8 apg while shooting 46.5%, including 45.1% from the 3-point arc.

Looking at the entire roster for Memphis, Desmond Bane is second when it comes to scoring right behind his All-Star teammate, Ja Morant. They've formed a deadly duo that can do damage both from the inside as well as the outside. His absence has definitely taken a hit in their scoring and threat from deep.
