'Don't disrespect fam': Former LA Lakers swingman calls out fanbase pressure narrative citing his scoring stats before injury

Former LA Lakers guard Lonnie Walker IV had an incredible stint with the team last season and there were games where he looked like an All-Star. Now, Walker is with the Brooklyn Nets, where he's having the best shooting efficiency from deep, knocking down 47% of his shots.

During his time with the Lakers, Walker made the most out of the chances he was given. He only played 56 points as he suffered an injury during the middle of the season and missed a significant portion of the team's campaign. The 6-foot-4 swingman averaged 11.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

This time, a fan pointed out on X the pressure of what it's like to play for the Lakers. The fan showed that Walker and former teammate Malik Beasley are both having great efficiencies this season. Right now, Beasley leads the league in three-point efficiency, making 48% this season.

He stated that the lights are brighter in LA compared to Brooklyn and Milwaukee, and Walker had to respond to that:

"Don’t disrespect family I was the 3rd leading scorer as a Laker before getting injured. Pressure don’t burst no pipes over here 🙏🏾 got the wrong one," Walker said.

During his first nine games last season, Walker showed off his scoring prowess. He averaged 15.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and two assists while making 44% of his shots from the field. What's even more impressive is that he scored all those points while shooting under 30% from beyond the arc.

Who's the best shooter for the LA Lakers this season?

The LA Lakers only have one goal this season, and that is to win the NBA title. To do that, they've surrounded LeBron James and Anthony Davis with shooters to help them become a threat on the offensive end.

Looking at the team's roster, the Lakers have Taurean Prince as their best shooter from beyond the arc. Prince is shooting 39% from beyond the arc, which isn't the most impressive efficiency as he leads the entire team in this department. Still, his presence has helped the team when they need a basket from beyond the arc.

Following Prince is LeBron James, who's shooting at 38.9% from beyond the arc. James is never known for his shooting abilities, but he's improved over time. Now, he's a threat from beyond the arc and defenses have acknowledged his outside stroke.

At the third spot is D'Angelo Russell. He's shooting 38.5% from beyond the arc on 5.5 attempts. Russell has done a lot for the team but the Lakers haven't been satisfied with how he's played this year.
