Draymond Green confident about visiting the White House again next year as NBA champion

Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors visited the White House on Tuesday. Despite his future with the defending champs being in question, Green was confident about visiting the White House again next year as an NBA champion.

Green told Madeline Kenney of The Mercury News with a smirk that he's looking forward to returning to the White House next year.

"It's been a very great visit and looking forward to coming back next year," Green said.

The four-time NBA champ was also asked about becoming the president of the United States. He doesn't want to be president, but joked about becoming Defense Secretary.

It's not surprising that Draymond Green has a lot of confidence. The Golden State Warriors have been there and done that. Despite still struggling halfway through the season, the Warriors are the defending champions.

Golden State currently have a record of 22-22, which is good enough for sixth place in the Western Conference standings. They are already nine games behind first place, while the remaining teams in the bottom half of the West are neck-and-neck.

Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins are healthy once again, while Klay Thompson has found his rhythm again. Green is still a defensive menace, but Jordan Poole remains inconsistent and erratic. The same can be said with the Warriors' play this season.

But with how things are going at Golden State, it will be interesting to see if they will make a move or two ahead of the trade deadline. There were reports last week that the Warriors are looking to add size and shooting.

Draymond Green's time with the Golden State Warriors could be coming to an end this season. Green could opt out of his contract at the end of the season and become a free agent.

In a recent interview with Taylor Rooks for Bleacher Report, Green discussed his impending decision and the possibility of free agency. He noted that the Warriors ownership has luxury concerns and acknowledged the business side of the NBA.

"If you don't get to know the business, then you can be blindsided," Green said. "And be like, 'Oh man, well everything I've done there, I thought I'd be there forever.' I quite frankly don't think I will be. I would love to be, but I also understand the business.

He continued:

"I understand the luxury tax. I understand you got these young guys and contracts up, and they have to get paid. I understand all of those things, and so just for me, when I say the writing is on the wall, that's what I mean by the writing's on the wall. I just understand the business side."
