As part of his 60th birthday celebration on Friday, Michael Jordan donated $10 million to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Jordan has been an ambassador for Make-A-Wish since 2008. The $10 million donation is the largest one made by an individual in the history of the foundation.

Jordan released a statement explaining why he made a big contribution to Make-A-Wish for his 60th birthday. "His Airness" just wanted to make the kids happy during their toughest time. He said:

"For the past 34 years, it's been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids," Jordan said. "Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.
I can't think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true."

So, how does the Make-A-Wish Foundation work? The non-profit organization is known for granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. They're able to finance all wishes through donations from individuals, corporations, grants and other sources.
