Shaquille O'Neal shares the idea behind his documentary ‘SHAQ’: “I wanted to view myself as superhero”

When people think of Shaquille O'Neal, his larger than life personality is the first thing that comes to mind. Even during his playing days, he was able to captivate any audience.

Aside from being one of the greatest players in NBA history, Shaq has had a very successful life outside of basketball. He remains close to the game with his role on TNT's 'Inside the NBA,' along with countless successful business ventures.

Shaquille O'Neal recently released his latest project, a documentary about his life. The self-titled movie 'SHAQ' just came out on HBO.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Shaq opened up on how he feels about the documentary. He used this as an opportunity to peel back the curtain and show the world how he became who he is today.

He said:

"Because everyone know I'm a character, right? I wanted to view myself as superhero. Now that I'm older, it's time to let you know the secrets of how he became how he became."

"How his thought process is like this. How do he persevere through this, how did he overcome this, is he this, is he that."

For most professional athletes, finding out what to do after their playing days can be tough. Unlike most people, their careers typically end in their mid-to-late 30s, leaving them with a lot of free time. That being said, this has never been an issue for Shaquille O'Neal.

When it comes to athletes who have made the most of their platform, Michael Jordan and LeBron James might be the first names mentioned. However, Shaq certainly belongs in that conversation.

Since his playing days have ended, the LA Lakers legend has done it all. Between being a DJ, appearing in movies, and becoming a successful businessman, Shaq has no limits. Now, he can add a documentary about his life to his long list of achievements.

Some might view Shaq as more of a class clown, but his work ethic cannot be denied. He could have easily ridden off into the sunset when he retired, but opted to keep pushing him. Because of his hard work, he has turned himself into an icon.

At this point, there is no telling what the Hall of Fame center might do next. With his countless successful ventures, Shaquille O'Neal has proven he is far more than just an athlete.
