Is Brandon Ingram playing tonight against Hornets? Latest injury update on Pelicans’ star ahead of matchup (23rd March 2023)

New Orleans Pelicans v Houston Rockets
Is Brandon Ingram playing tonight?

The New Orleans Pelicans will be without one of their stars against the Charlotte Hornets, but it isn't Brandon Ingram. Per the latest injury report, the 25-year-old is good to go on Thursday night.

Brandon Ingram missed a pair of games last week, but seems to be back to his normal self. Since returning to the lineup, he has scored at least 26 or more points in three of his past four matchups. In the Pelicans' recent blowout win over the San Antonio Spurs, Ingram erupted for 32 points and seven assists while shooting over 60% from the field.

Similar to Zion Williamson, Ingram has been sidelined for a good chunk of the season. The former All-Star missed two months, but returned near the end of January. In the 35 games he's played this season, Ingram is averaging 23.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 5.1 apg.

The New Orleans Pelicans need a healthy Brandon Ingram down the stretch

Seeing Brandon Ingram missing from the injury report is a great sign for New Orleans Pelicans fans. After starting the year near the top of the Western Conference, injuries have derailed their season.

Despite both their stars missing a majority of the year, the Pelicans still find themselves in the mix for a playoff spot. As the regular season comes to a close, they are only half a game behind the LA Lakers for the final spot in the play-in tournament.

With the Charlotte Hornets being near the bottom of the standings in the East, New Orleans is in a good position to pick up a win. At this point in the year, they can't afford to drop any games against opponents who aren't competing for anything right now.

Having Ingram in the lineup should help the Pelicans take care of business. If they are able to squeak into the postseason, they might be able to shock a team.

While Zion Williamson remains out, New Orleans still expects him to play this year. If the team makes it to the playoffs, they expect the former No. 1 pick to be available.

When their big three are all on the court together, the Pelicans have proven they are a tough team to beat. Even if he isn't at 100%, getting Zion back could provide a huge jolt for the rest of the team.

Until the All-Star forward is able to take the floor, it's up to Ingram to lead the charge in these final regular-season games.
