Klay Thompson is set to eclipse yet another historic milestone in his legendary NBA career. The guard has built a Hall-of-Fame resume and a legacy as one of the greatest 3-point shooters in NBA history.
The five-time All-Star was once one of the best scorers in the league and remains a strong scoring option in his first season with the Dallas Mavericks. On Wednesday night, Thompson will have the opportunity to add another milestone to his resume to attest to his scoring ability.
Entering Dallas' matchup versus the New York Knicks, Thompson ranks 130th on the all-time scoring list with 15,756 career points.
With six points, Thompson will pass German basketball legend Detlef Schrempf on the all-time scoring list. Schrempf, who is 129th on the all-time scoring list, made three NBA All-Star appearances in his career, winning two Sixth Man of the Year awards in his 16-year career.

On Wednesday afternoon, Schrempf shared a hilarious reaction to the dwindling gap between his career points mark and Thompson's.
"Dropping lower every day," Schrempf posted to X.
In his career, Schrempf averaged 16.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists, suiting up for the Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Seattle SuperSonics and Portland Trail Blazers.
Klay Thompson could return versus Knicks on Wednesday
The Dallas Mavericks will host the New York Knicks at American Airlines Center on Wednesday. Injuries have riddled the Mavericks throughout the season and the team will be without superstar point guard Luka Doncic, with Daniel Gafford, Derrick Lively II, Quentin Grimes and Klay Thompson also being listed on the injury report.
Thompson has been listed as a game-time decision ahead of Wednesday night's tip-off but could return after missing Dallas' last contest. In Thompson's absence, Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks to a 129-119 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
The two-time All-NBA third-team selection played a crucial role for the Mavericks in their 123-118 overtime loss versus the Miami Heat on Sunday. He logged 31 minutes and scored 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, connecting on three of his five 3-point attempts.
Klay Thompson has appeared in 17 of Dallas' 18 games this season, averaging 13.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists, shooting 38.3% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point range.
