LA Lakers star forward LeBron James never played college basketball. James was one of the few players to make the jump directly from high school to the NBA, going No. 1 to Cleveland in 2003.
However, that hasn’t stopped him from dreaming of what the college experience may have been like.
In a tweet on Sunday morning, James outlined a recent dream he had involving himself and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. In the dream, he said that he and Jordan were squaring off in a tightly contested national championship game between Duke and North Carolina.
However, James added that he woke up before getting to see the end of the game, something that is a regular occurrence for him.
“Just woke up from having a dream that MJ and I was shooting the sh*+ back and forth at the Men's National Championship game between North Carolina/Duke! Great vibes and EPIC CLASSIC GAME! It was a tie game/94-94/5 secs left/NC with the ball,” James tweeted.
“My ass would wake up to use the bathroom right before seeing the ending of the game. Happens all the time. Never get to the end. Anyways felt real as hell. Lol. Gm everyone.”
Michael Jordan played three seasons for North Carolina from 1981 to 1984, winning a national championship in 1982. Meanwhile, Duke is reportedly one of the schools that LeBron James would have liked to attend if he went to college.
However, Jordan, 60, is 22 years older than James, 38. A college matchup between the two would have been impossible even if the latter went to college.
Nonetheless, it still made for an interesting story for fans on social media, even if a few questioned the authenticity of James’ dream.
LeBron James reacts to LA Lakers beating Golden State Warriors on Sunday
Outside of tweeting about his dreams, LeBron James also took to Twitter to congratulate his team following their big win over the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers entered their home game against the Warriors on Sunday as underdogs as they were without James, who is out with a right foot injury. However, LA still pulled off a 113-105 victory over Golden State (34-31, fifth in the West) to spoil Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry’s return.
“YESSIR #Lakeshow !!!!! W,” LeBron James tweeted following the victory.
The Lakers were led by star big man Anthony Davis, who finished with 39 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks on 56.0% shooting. Meanwhile, Curry led Golden State with 27 points to go along with two rebounds, six assists, one steal and five 3-pointers on 40.0% shooting.
The game marked Curry’s first appearance after missing 11 straight games due to a left leg injury.
The LA Lakers (31-34, 11th in the West) got back into the win column following their loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. They also inched closer to play-in positioning.
LA is now tied with the Utah Jazz (31-34, 10th in the West) for the final play-in spot in the West. However, Utah holds the tiebreaker 2-0, with the two teams set to clash two more times before the end of the regular season.
