Michael Jordan’s ex-wife Juanita Vanoy endorsed a post made by the late civil rights icon Martin Luther King’s daughter, Bernice King on Saturday. MLK’s daughter’s post came in the wake of the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot in Utah on Sept. 10.

The post also received a reaction from the Chicago Bulls legend’s daughter, Jasmine Jordan, who liked the post. Also, former Chicago Sky coach, Teresa Weatherspoon joined in liking the statement post.

The basketball community reacted to the shocking death of the Turning Point USA co-founder. Michael Porter Jr., Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley expressed their grief and sent their condolences on social media. They condemned the act and emphasized the tragedy of someone losing their life.

The killing also drew controversy with New York Liberty player Natasha Cloud being criticized by former NFL player Antonio Brown. Brown tweeted a vulgar response after Cloud allegedly made controversial remarks following the death of the right-wing political activist.


Who is Juanita Vanoy, Michael Jordan’s ex-wife?

Michael Jordan’s ex-wife, Juanita Vanoy is a Chicago native, born in the South Side. Before she met MJ, she worked as a loan officer at a bank in Chicago, had roles with the American Bar Association and in real estate investment management.

Juanita and Michael Jordan met in 1985, when Jordan was in his early NBA career at a restaurant in Chicago. She later became pregnant with their first child, Jeffrey, in 1988, before they formally married. There was almost a paternity suit involved, and although they married on Sept. 2, 1989, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas in a very early morning (around 3:30 a.m.) ceremony.

Together, they have three children, Jeffrey Michael Jordan, born November 1988 (before their marriage), Marcus James Jordan, born December 1990 and Jasmine Mickael Jordan, born December 1992. Juanita filed for divorce in January 2002 after about 12-13 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

They reconciled temporarily, where the petition was withdrawn, but ultimately, the divorce was finalized in 2006. The divorce settlement was substantial as she received about US$168 million, which was one of the largest celebrity divorce settlements in sports.
