Dallas Mavericks forward JaVale McGee has made quite the name for himself in the NBA world as a high-flying act and 3x NBA champion. However, in 2020, the center also added a Grammy nomination to his list of lifetime accomplishments.
The year 2020 was a great one for McGee. In his second season with the LA Lakers, McGee found himself playing a pivotal role in the starting lineup for the team. Unfortunately, this was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, things looked fruitful again when the NBA resumed activities in the Orlando bubble. It was here that the big man would play a vital role in ensuring the Lakers won their 17th championship as well.

After adding yet another ring to his championship cabinet, McGee seemed to have started off 2020 with a bang. Although he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers mid-way through the 2020-21 season, it still looked good for him. But things took an unexpected turn late in the year.

JaVale McGee found himself in a recording session with producer Poo Bear. A sample made by McGee piqued the interest of the producer, who then developed it further.
As one thing led to another, the song eventually found its way onto Justin Bieber's album, "Changes." But things kept rolling for McGee as the album was eventually nominated for a Grammy as well. With the big man having producer credits for the song on the album, McGee earned himself a Grammy nomination.
JaVale McGee displayed his gratitude and awe with a post on IG. He also shared a heartfelt caption along with the post which said:
"Never thought in a million years something I helped produce would be nominated for a grammy! Thank you @poobear for the opportunity and shout out to @harv and of course last but no least @justinbieber for letting me be a part of this project!"
McGee's list of accomplishments is truly unique in this regard. While already in a class of his own with multiple NBA championships, the big man can also boast of being a Grammy-nominated producer.
Since parting ways with the Lakers, McGee has been around different teams in the league. Currently playing as a backup big man for the Dallas Mavericks, he remains valuable in the highly limited minutes he plays.
JaVale McGee has had a solid NBA career
Although JaVale McGee made a name for himself by consistently featuring on Shaqtin' A Fool, the big man carved out a fairly solid NBA career for himself.
Having been in the league since the 2008-09 season, McGee has spent almost 15 years in professional basketball. In this span of time, he hasn't necessarily recorded the most impressive statistics. However, he has played a vital role in almost every team he has been on.
This certainly held true when he joined the Golden State Warriors. Playing alongside the Dubs in the Kevin Durant era, McGee offered tremendous support to help facilitate the Warriors' offense.
Even upon moving to the LA Lakers, McGee offered solid rebounding and rim protection, which was a huge factor in securing the 2020 NBA championship.
Overall, although his stats failed to impress, his credentials hold up. As a serviceable veteran big man in the league, JaVale McGee does a solid job.
