During his playing days, Michael Jordan was known as one of the most competitive players in NBA history. However, there is another side of the Hall of Fame guard that not everyone knows about.

For as fierce as he can be on the court, Michael Jordan was never shy to lend a hand to someone in need. During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, former player Juwan Howard touched on this caring side of MJ.

Back in the summer of 1995, Juwan Howard was gearing up for his second season in the NBA. After hearing that his trainer was going to California for the summer to train with Michael Jordan on the Space Jam set, he made the bold decision to follow and do the same.

Despite being a top-five pick a year prior, Howard did not know if he was going to be able to afford a hotel for the entire summer. MJ heard about his situation and offered him a room in his home while he stayed out on the west coast to train.

Howard was extremely grateful for the act of kindness, and touched on the two sides of "His Airness" in his interview with Dan Patrick.

"MJ is that type of guy. He'll give you the shirt off his back, but when it comes time to lace up on the court and you're on the opposite team you better believe he's going to do whatever it takes to win."

Michael Jordan continues to use his platform for good

Along with helping out fellow NBA players like Juwan Howard, Michael Jordan has always tried to use his platform for good. Over the years, he has been a part of countless charitable organizations. Some of the key organizations he has worked with in the past include the Special Olympics and the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of America.

Just last year, the Chicago Bulls legend began working on a $100 million commitment to the Black community through the Jordan brand. The company has instituted a community grants program to help assist social organizations within the Black community.

“Since announcing our commitment to the Black Community in June of 2020, we’ve been focused on two things – action and impact,” Jordan Brand President Craig Williams said in a statement.
“I’m excited about the impact these grants will have in the Black Community. We know that when we create positive change for the Black Community, there is a benefit for almost every other group.”

For all the talk of how fierce of a competitor MJ was, he does not get enough credit for also having a caring nature for those in need.
