Cal Bowdler was a professional basketball player who formerly played for the NBA and the Pro League in Italy. He was drafted in the 1999 NBA Draft, wherein the Atlanta Hawks selected him as the 17th overall pick.
Bowdler was a 6-foot-10 forward who was basically just a bench warmer for the Hawks. Having said that, he didn't find much success in the league and ended up playing only 3 seasons.

Before becoming a professional basketball player, Cal Bowdler was just an average player who played basketball at Rappahannock High School. He then played for the Old Dominion Monarchs in college in 1995. Out of the 118 games he played in college, he started in 45. However, his time as a starter came in late.
During his first two years in college, Cal Bowdler was just a mediocre player. As a freshman, he averaged only 2.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He wasn't the most efficient shooter either, as he only shot 34% from the field. In his sophomore season, Bowdler managed to increase his numbers by a little bit. He averaged 5.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
It was only until Bowdler's third and fourth seasons with Old Dominion that he added value to his name. He became a solid defender and a decent role player who could score some buckets for his team. During Cal's junior year, he averaged 10.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game. Then, in his senior year, he averaged a double-double with 14.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game.
As a result of his hard work, Bowdler became a first-round pick in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks drafted Cal back in 1999 as the 17th overall pick.
