Former NBA player Donte Greene was charged with attempted robbery at a gas station recently. Greene, who played in Ice Cube's BIG3 league, allegedly went into a gas station on Nov. 8 and told the attendant to "give him all the money," according to court documents.

The 34-year-old Greene was caught after several 911 calls were made alerting authorities about a possible drunk driver in the area. Shortly after, another call came through about a man attempting to rob a gas station in the area. When police arrived, they found Greene.

The alleged robbery took place in Indiana and could see Donte Greene sentenced to up to six years in prison. According to the initial report, employees at a neighboring Taco Bell called police after seeing the 6-foot-11 Greene enter the gas station. When he did, he allegedly pulled off his shirt before aggressively advancing on the attendant behind the counter.

DailyMail broke the story, with NBACentral tweeting about it shortly after. According to the initial report, Greene was not booked for driving while under the influence. It is unclear at this time whether the 911 calls regarding a drunk driver were connected to Greene.

Donte Greene's NBA career

During his one year in college for Syracuse, Greene averaged 17.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. After that, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected 28th pick by the Memphis Grizzlies. Following an incredibly short stint in the D-League, Greene returned to the Kings for four seasons. In his second season, he averaged a career-high 8.5 ppg. Despite that, he was never able to build on the success of his sophomore year and eventually became a free agent.

After parting ways with the Kings, Greene bounced around the international circuit, playing for teams in New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. NBA fans saw Greene then participate in The Basketball Tournament, an annual summer competition, in 2017. Alongside other Syracuse products, Greene helped the team until they were eliminated by the eventual champs.

Although he put on an impressive display in four games in The Basketball Tournament Greene found a new home in BIG3. After the 3-on-3 league was born, Greene was selected in the second round of the 2019 BIG3 draft. With an impressive 3-point shot to go along with his height and length, Greene's time with the BIG3 was considered a success by many.

After putting in two impressive seasons, Greene was named the co-captain of the Killer 3's. In the new role, he continued to impress, ultimately earning the Most Improved Player award. At the end of the season, he became one of only two players to average more than 20 points and seven rebounds per game.

At the end of the most recent BIG3 season, many thought Greene would train and return in hopes of securing a BIG3 championship. Depending on how things shake out in his upcoming legal battle, Greene's playing career could be over.
