Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet is engaged to Shontai Neal. VanVleet and Neal have been together since they were at Auburn High School over 10 years ago. The couple has two kids together, daughter Sanaa Marie VanVleet and son Fred VanVleet Jr. Sanaa is five years old, while Fred Jr. is a year younger than her.

Unlike VanVleet, Neal didn't make the headlines throughout her profession. Shontai worked as a waitress in Olive Garden during her college days for four years between 2011 and 2015. She became a front-desk receptionist at The Inn in Tallgrass from 2015 to 2016. Reports suggest Neal studied at Wichita State University, where VanVleet played college basketball for four years.

Her current professional status hasn't been made available. Shontai has 14k followers on her Instagram account, which is private. The couple got engaged in 2022.

Fred VanVleet in the limelight following passionate rant against NBA official Ben Taylor

Fred VanVleet has been in the spotlight lately for his passionate rant about referee Ben Taylor's officiating. VanVleet didn't hold back his thoughts following the Raptors' 108-100 loss against the LA Clippers on Wednesday, March 8th. Here's what VanVleet said:

"You come out tonight, competing pretty hard and I get a bulls**t tech that changes the whole dynamic of the game, changed the whole flow of the game," VanVleet said.

He added:

"And you know, most of the refs are trying hard. I like a lot of the refs, they're trying hard, they're pretty fair, and communicate well. And then you got the other ones who just want to be d**ks and just kind of f**k up the game. And no one's coming to see that s**t."

The Raptors guard was fined $30k for his explosive statement. VanVleet has been issued eight technical fouls this season, three of them coming from Taylor. The frustration boiled over for the one-time All-Star after the loss against the Clippers as Toronto made only 14 trips to the free-throw line, while Ty Lue's team had 31 attempts.
