Who is Maggie Grise and how is she related to Adam Silver? All you need to know

Adam Silver has been NBA commissioner since Feb. 1, 2014, after David Stern stepped down from the position. Silver has been very private about his personal life, but he got married in May 2015. Silver and his wife, Maggie Grise, have two children together.

In a candid interview with Matt Lauer of TODAY at the Time 100 Gala in April 2015, Silver was asked about being in love.

"Took my breath away," Silver said. "You know, I got lost. ... Yeah, in a good way."

The NBA commissioner then revealed that he was going to get married a month later. He also said that he wanted to have at least one child as soon as possible.

"You asked me about love," Silver said. "I'm gonna get married in May. My fiancee and I would love to have a child. At least one, maybe more."

Adam Silver and Maggie Grise were married in 2015 in a very private ceremony in front of select family members and close friends. The couple welcomed their first child, Louise Burns Silver, in April 2017. They had their second child, another daughter, in May 2020.

In an interview with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Silver described what it's like to take care of a newborn baby in the middle of a pandemic. He was happy that he was able to spend some time with his wife and their two children.

"My wife and I had a child in the middle of this, in mid-May, a new daughter," Silver said. "And that's the time of year where I would have been on the road. ...

"The fact that I've been around not just my newborn, but also my three-year-old daughter, and watching her develop over the last four months, having the opportunity to spend time with her every day, having her sort of sit on my lap for a lot of the Zoom calls, despite all the difficulties over this period, has been a real joy in my life."

Who is Maggie Grise?

Maggie Grise is the wife of NBA commissioner Adam Silver. Grise works as an interior decorator and designer in New York City. There's no public record of her birth date or birthplace. She has a sister, Maureen Grise, who is married to actor Tom Cavanagh.

That makes Cavanagh and Silver brothers-in-law. Cavanagh is famous for appearing in television shows such as "Ed," "Providence," "Scrubs" and The CW's "The Flash."

Adam Silver is known for being the NBA commissioner, but he's also famous for his slender build and bald head. In an appearance on the "Renaissance Man" podcast, Jalen Rose asked Silver how often he shaves his head. Silver revealed that his wife, Maggie Grise, was her personal barber during the pandemic.

"It doesn't grow that fast anymore," Silver said. "My personal barber has been my wife these days. I'm not going to show you some of the little marks on the back of my head, but about once a week."
