Jaime Jaquez Jr.'s sister, Gabriela Jaquez, plays basketball for the UCLA Bruins. She is a part of the team that ended the Gamecocks' 43-game winning streak earlier this week.
Gabriela Jaquez comes from a Mexican-American family with an athletic background. She is Mexican on her father’s side. Standing 6 feet tall, Gabriela was born on Nov. 19, 2003, in Irvine, California. She has another sibling, Marcos Jaquez, who played college football for Ventura College.
Gabriela and her brothers got their first names that allude to their Hispanic background. Their father, since their childhood, has made sure that they are in touch with their paternal roots, and one of the reasons that Gabriela and her siblings spent their vacation in Mexico.

Gabriela Jaquez comes from a basketball family. While her older brother has reached the highest level in the sport, her parents were also successful basketball players.
Gabriela’s father, Jaime Jaquez Sr., was a college basketball player. He played for Concordia University Irvine in California. Later, Gabriela’s father and her uncle worked as high school basketball coaches.
Her mother, Angela Jaquez, played women’s basketball at Concordia University Irvine. Angela and Jaime Sr. met in college and later got married.
A big Kobe Bryant fan, Gabriela Jaquez made her first big stop with Adolfo Camarillo High School. After her stellar high school career, she chose UCLA.
When Jaquez Jr. played his last season with UCLA, his younger sister Gabriela played her first season for the UCLA women’s team. In 2023, they became the first-ever brother-sister duo to appear in the Sweet 16 from the same school and in the same year.
Before they appeared for Sweet 16, Jamie showed support for his little sister. According to NBC, he spoke to the Pac-12 network about the historical moment with his sister.

Gabriela Jaquez was scouted by ESPN as one of the top high school players in 2022. During her high school career, Gabriela averaged 24.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.1 assists per game. She dominated her senior year, with averages of 34.2 ppg, 15.7 rpg, 2.6 apg and 4.7 spg.
Gabriela made it to the McDonald’s All-American Girls’ Team in 2022. She was also named the MVP of the EYBL Nike Nationals.
In August earlier this year, Gabriela Jaquez was selected by the Mexican national team to represent the country in the FIBA World Cup in 2026. Moreover, her talent in sports is not just limited to basketball, as she also represents UCLA in softball.
The younger sister of the Miami Heat player also has a deep love for beaches and it is apparent from her social media posts. She often posts snaps from her beachside vacations with her friends.
