“You don’t know who A-Rod is?”: Karl-Anthony Towns hilariously mocks teammate Anthony Edwards’ bold baseball stardom claims

Anthony Edwards is far from being a typical professional athlete in the NBA and perhaps across all professional leagues in America. He is goofy and has answers that can throw anybody off their game.

In a recent interview with Rich Eisen, Ant’s teammate Karl-Anthony Towns revealed that Edwards didn’t know who baseball legend Alex Rodriguez was.

When Rodriguez joined the ownership of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Edwards had no idea who he was. When asked about A-Rod joining the ownership team, Edwards said that he didn’t know anything about A-Rod or baseball.

While talking about the funniest player on the Timberwolves roster, Karl Anthony Towns picked Anthony Edwards as the funniest player he has been around. When Rich Eisen asked Towns if it was true that Edwards didn’t know A-Rod, KAT confirmed the rumor.

Eisen: “Is it true he did not know who Alex Rodriguez was?”

KAT: "Yeah, yeah. It was more funny he said that but then said that he would be the best baseball player and I was like 'you don’t know who who A-Rod is?'”

Edwards has publicly said that he used to play baseball in school and could have been in MLB if he wanted to.

Towns also spoke about another recent incident that happened after the Timberwolves game against the Boston Celtics. After the game, when KAT saw Ant wearing an earring he told Edwards they were not real. Edwards hilariously replied, “Absolutely, they are not real,” starting his reply as if he was going to disagree.

Anthony Edwards confronted A-Rod about split with Jennifer Lopez

Since Anthony Edwards commented on not knowing about A-Rod and baseball, both have developed a close relationship with each other. When A-Rod and his then-partner Jennifer Lopez split in 2021, Edwards was sad and asked A-Rod a strange question about the split.

The Timberwolves star player asked A-Rod about blowing up his relationship with pop star Jennifer Lopez. Sports commentator Craig Kilborn shared an anecdote about Edwards and Rodriguez's growing relationship.

"A-Rod is getting a relationship with Anthony Edwards," Kilborn said. "You know, the famous thing. Ant didn't know who he was, and now they're friends. ... So, then Ant got comfortable with him.

"He called over A-Rod and said, 'I gotta ask you something, how did you screw up J-Lo?' He did. That's who Ant is, right? Isn't that funny?"

Rodriguez and Lopez started dating in 2017 and later split in 2021. They had planned their marriage in 2020 but could not through due to Covid-19. However, shortly after postponing their marriage, the former couple broke up.

Since then, J-Lo has rekindled her romance with Hollywood actor Ben Affleck. Moreover, A-Rod is reportedly dating Jaclyn Cordeiro, a fitness coach.

Having fun and joking around is due to Edwards’ jovial nature. However, Edwards is a fierce competitor when he steps on the basketball court. He doesn't shy away from taking on the most challenging responsibilities on the floor. In short and straight terms, Edwards is on his way to becoming a superstar in the NBA.
