Golden State Warriors Rumors: Draymond Green's influence on front office decision not the same ahead of trade deadline

Before Draymond Green's incident with Jordan Poole in the offseason, his voice had an impact within the Golden State Warriors. However, the latest rumors suggest that Green's influence on front office decisions is not the same ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline.

A Western Conference executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that Green used to have a lot of say in terms of the Warriors' needs and wants. But due to the former Defensive Player of the Year's action before the season, he no longer has the same influence.

"Normally, it would be Draymond who would be the one making noise with the front office about," the executive said. "'You need to do this and that,' but things are different with Draymond now after the Poole incident. He is not going to make more waves there."

The Golden State Warriors remain inconsistent halfway through the season. The Warriors will likely have to make a trade in order to increase their chances of defending the championship. Monte Poole of NBC Sports reported a couple of weeks ago that Golden State are looking to add size and shooting.

Some of the players who have been linked to the Warriors include Jae Crowder, Myles Turner, Alex Caruso and Kelly Olynyk. Their options are limited due to their luxury tax concerns. They do have young assets such as James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody to make a trade.

However, Anthony Slater of The Athletic believes that the Warriors are likely to retain Wiseman, Kuminga and Moody. Slater explained that the defending champs will listen to offers, but has put a high price tag on the trio.

Draymond Green's punch on Jordan Poole still affects the Golden State Warriors' locker room

Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole at training camp was one of the most shocking events of the offseason. An anonymous NBA executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that the incident is still affecting the Golden State Warriors' locker room.

"Poole is a professional," the exec said. "He is a young guy, he can be emotional, he does not back down. That’s one reason why he got into it with Draymond to begin with, but he is not going to hurt the team. Draymond has free agency to worry about in July. He can’t be an a**hole anymore, not this year.
"So, nothing is brewing between the two. They are not getting into fights every day. But you talk to people there, and the whole thing still is sitting over the whole team, the camaraderie is not the same. The way guys open up to one another, that is not there, and you can't force it to be there. You talk to guys who have been there a while, and there is a coldness that that team does not usually have."

Draymond Green's actions definitely had some effect on the Golden State Warriors this season. Given the incident and the team's luxury tax problems, it wouldn't be surprising if Green leaves the Warriors this summer.
