The Golden State Warriors could make a move before the February 9 deadline to bolster their chances of retaining their championship. The latest rumors suggest that the Warriors' best asset ahead of the trade deadline is one of their former lottery picks.
According to Dan Favale of Bleacher Report, the defending champs might need to make a decision on their three young players. Favale believes that the Warriors' best trade asset is Jonathan Kuminga over James Wiseman and Moses Moody. He even called Kuminga a building block for the Warriors.
Why would Golden State want to trade him, though? Favale explained that most teams will likely be interested in Kuminga rather than Wiseman and Moody. The No. 7 pick of the 2021 NBA draft has shown glimpses of his potential at both ends of the floor this season.
If the Golden State Warriors decide to make a trade, they're likely going to add size and shooting. Monte Poole of NBC Sports reported last week that the defending champions will be active in the trade market.
Poole noted that the Warriors are not necessarily making a deal but would observe what's happening. If they want to improve the roster, they might have several options.
One of them is Myles Turner, who could add size and shooting in Golden State. Turner is among the best shot blockers in the league and can shoot from beyond the arc.
Jae Crowder is another option, but he's an undersized power forward. Crowder has also not played a single game this season. It might take him some time to get into playing shape and get his rhythm back.

Steph Curry won't be happy if Golden State Warriors stay put at trade deadline
Steph Curry carried the Golden State Warriors to their fourth championship since 2015 last season and earned his first NBA Finals MVP award. Curry was also doing the same thing this season before his injury. The difference, though, was that the Golden State Warriors have struggled to put together a great campaign.
An NBA executive told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that Curry won't be happy if the Warriors front office stays put at the trade deadline. The executive believes that the two-time MVP prefers to advance to the postseason rather than get eliminated in the play-in tournament.
"He is going to be 35, and he does not have time to wait for James Wiseman to make trips to the G League," the exec said. "He also is not of the mindset that they won a championship last year, and they should be satisfied with that. He will be pissed, frankly, if they do nothing, and they lose in the play-in or something."
