
After serving under Larry Fedora from 2008 to 2011, Blake Anderson returned to Southern Miss for his second term as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He then goes on to have ten successful seasons as a Division I head coach, including stays at Utah State (2021–2023) and Arkansas State (2014–20). Over the course of his ten seasons as head coach, which included nine bowl games and three conference crowns, he recorded a 74-54 (.578) overall head coaching record, including a 53-27 (.663) league record.
Having coached for thirty years, Anderson has participated in six conference titles. At the junior college level, he has won a national championship and coached in 14 bowl games. Nine Aggies received all-conference recognition at the conclusion of the 2023 season, including sophomore safety Ike Larsen, who was named a CFN Honorable Mention All-American, graduate senior linebacker MJ Tafisi Jr., who was named a Phil Steele Honorable Mention All-American, and junior wide receiver Jalen Royals, who was named a College Football Network (CFN) Third-Team All-American.
